It's painful.

I got a few before, but they were also confined to one white taste bud.

This one is more than one taste bud.

Anyone know what it could be?

I've always just called them "infected taste buds".. Not really sure what they really are.

Huh?

I don't think he's talking about cold/canker sores guys.

He's talking about when your individual taste buds become inflamed. Not an open sore.

It will go away in a few days. Now, stop molesting the homeless. ;)

You got herpes.

Actually the virus is very similar.

These are also known as canker sores.

Canker sores and cold sores are two totally different things. Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Canker sores are very painful sores in the mouth that, believe it or not, no one really knows the cause of.

contrast that to:

which says "Cold sores are quiet different from canker sores." The source of this information is the Mayo Clinic.
