You may be able to go back and get another free movie. BB now has a promotion for $99 + 3 free movies + 5 Mail-In.

I also got the player from BB on Thursday and went to pick it up. But I'm only going to get the 5 Mail in-rebate movie offers. No freebies at the store.

I asked about it and the employees didn't know about it or how to apply anything. Any advice on what I could do to get that? Would I have to bring the player back?
I had to get the player at the only store in Long Island that had it in stock and its pretty far away.

The computer did it automatically if the checkout scanned the 2 movies. Nothing extra for the cashier to do.

But I order the player online and did store pick up. Went to the store got the player and asked about the free 2 movies. I even had a print out of their website and they could not figure it out.

I guess I lost on the deal, its no big deal.

Walk up to the counter with 3 HD DVDs. Tell them you want to take advantage of their promotion where you want to have them do a refund-rering of the player. The discount will be taken off at the register automatically.

For the discount to be applied, they HAVE TO refund the player completely. Then they have to start a new order with the player and 3 DVDs. They cannot do a refund and rebuy on the same order.

but i would need the player physically with me correct?

I didn't. My purchase was an instore purchase thought. I don't know if you can return items to your local BB.

i'll call BB and ask if i can return to my local store which only 5 minute drive and try the return/rebuy method you said. The special is also in their sunday ad. So hopefully i can get this.

That's the only way to get the extra movies for free.

So I could get the free instant 3 HD-DVD's. Bestbuy had to refund me like I return the unit. Then I picked the three movies i wanted and they scanned the three movies and the player again. By doing that the computer automatically makes the three movies free and I still get the player again for $99.

I got Transformers, Bourne Identity, Supremacy. All three cheaper than the max allowed. $34.99 is the max a movie can cost.

Now going to send in for the 5 HD-DVD rebate movies.

How did you get seven movies? The rebate is for 5? am I missing something?

The real lucky people are the ones who got the Best Buy upgrade.

It's not going to look any better than it did in the theater unless they remastered it, right? I'm glad I got the A2 (I got it for $86 due to a sears pricematch) but I'm not chomping at the bit to replace all my movies with HD versions yet. Except maybe 2001...

Most movies look better at home than in a theatre.

Some theatres are using better equipment, but films are pretty crappy quality video-wise and even sound wise many home theatres can surpass the quality at the local megaplex as well as SPL.

For many diehards the theatre is just a way of seeing it *right now* and later rewatching it as it was really meant to be.

what's the three movie deal...thought it was 2 movies.

I thought about getting one, but I have a DVD changer, a PS2 and 3, VHS, HDTV and my receiver inputs are maxed out. If someone comes up with a universal changer, I'll unplug the DVD and ebay it.

The A3 isn't really any better than the A2.

The big thing with the upgrade is you also got 300 and Bourne Identity for free.

In addition to that, the people who ordered from BB Business also got in on two free additional movies if they called customer service.

Buying HD-DVDs or Blu-Ray movies at this point is dumb. They are just too expensive. Get a NetFlix subscription.

Amazon FTW. Decent prices coupled with 10% per each HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Disc I purchase 😀

Why? You can get some of the DVDs for $15-20, which is about the same price point as many SD DVDs.

I have a Blockbuster online sub and will probably switch oveer to Netflix shortly because of the HD-DVD disks AND as a protest to the BB change in service regarding in-store exchanges. However, if I find an HD-DVD disk that I want in the price range of a SD disk, I'll still buy it.

I have heard this on other threads. I still have my original membership for 3 movies at a time, online, and I have had no price increase, and I can still trade those movies in at my BB for 3 more movies. Frequently, I have 6 movies out at a time, for about as long as I want. I was sent an email some months ago telling me if I cancel or downgrade my membership, this deal is dead, though, and they will charge me more to reinstate it at this level. I guess I was grandfathered into this original program somehow.

Only thing that bites, is they don't have HD titles. It's a better deal than subscribing to HBO or Showtime, though. And I can watch what I want, instead of the same movie played over and over on multiple channels.

You should still jump on this deal. If you can still get one in store or online, get the HD-A3 unit. It has 2 movies in the box plus the 3 FREE at checkout, plus the 5 by mail, it's a great deal at BB for $199.99! Just get a cheap switch box for one of your video sources, until you do a receiver upgrade at some point down the road. I also managed to get the HD-A2C at Wallymart, too, for $98.97 just to upgrade my bedroom system. Only comes with a HDMI cable and the 5 free offer, which I have to mail to a different address, heh.

Now, I just need to unload 1 DVD H/K player, and a 2 DVD Toshiba changer. Bleh.

I dont want to take from this thread, but i switched from Netflix to BB for the in-store exchange. I signed up in June of this year with the 9.99 plan for 1 movie out at a time from online (unlimited), and unlimited in-store exchanges and 1 free e-coupon a month. With the new change BB took my 1 free e-coupon out and left the rest. But i'm fighting them. each time i email them they just send me a free coupon for my trouble. for now i'll stay with them. Also the local store has both Blu-ray and HD-DVD, but very low amount of HD-DVD. I might switch to netflix for that again.

Well i just went to BB and did a pricematch which means i now got 8 free movies. I added batman begins! 🙂

Yea, I just got back from there too, doing a price match on an A3 for the extra movie. Odd thing was, since the price went back up to $299.99 she had to put the new total on a gift card, add the extra 3 DVDs onto it, ring it up, then refund the total back to BB. Then she told me I had to use the rebate form on the gift card return slip for the 5 free Hd-dvds, but she said my charge card is still charged the original purchase price of $199.99. Took her like 10 minutes it seemed just to figure all that out. And she needed to see the printout I did of the cart with an A3 on Tuesday before the price went back up today to confirm the price. She did not need to see the player or DVDs , but I had them in my car just in case she did.
