I just got spam to my private e-mail. The only place that has it is here. In the CC was "moderator@anandtech.com"

So signing up for the forums here now gets spam. Thanks :|

Rossman, listing your email address in your profile has nothing to do with it. It is the recent worms, etc.

I have 2 software firewalls and one hardware one. I have every update, etc...... I have no worms or viruses, this is because of THIS forum. :|

I don't see what the problem is. The email has nothing to do with anandtech, it was just also sent to moderator@anandtech.com .. twice, actually.

So, no one ANYWHERE has this address? No friends, nothing? You've never emailed anybody from that address or had email sent to that address?
 
You want a weird spam/email/virus story???

I recently got a whole round of Re: emails from random people saying "Symantec Anti-Virus blocked your email" or "This message contains a virus and cannot be delivered" etc...all of the messages referring to SoBig.F...which has never infected any of my systems.

The email address they're coming from is my old school account, which has since been disabled (I graduated) and now merely forwards mail to another address (I can receive email through it, but can't send.) So someone is spoofing my old email addy and sending viruses...or one of my friends got infected and still has my old email in their address book?
