I got some thermal paste on my Chip!!!

I was attempting to put some thermal paste on my processor but when I did some runny clear fluid seaped through the package and got on the ceramic part of the Duron processor. I am worried that this might not be a good thing what should I do and if it is fixible than how should I go about fixing it.

ok then
some can be conductive at times, thats why i thought i would ask and see ifyou needed to clean with alcohol (isopropyl) or soemhing
 
Personally for cleaning I use acetone. The ease of it is like night and day. Just gotta be careful with plastic as it melts it. But the stuff never did any harm to my old Athlon and Duron.
 
Use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. Less Residue, cleans extremely effiently, and smells nice too! P.S. Doesn't melt anything.

Damn! For 99$, that Alcohol better clean, reapply, mount, and overclock by itself! 😉

What do you use for the wiping?

It seems dirt and particles would significantly affect heat transfer as well as potentially cause damage (scratches) What should be used with acetone/isoproponol? A q-tip would seem to be too dirty. Some kind of steril lintless wipe? Any ideas where that could be obtained?

Or am I obsessing too much?

With acetone I use lint free cloth. Might be overkill... but hey, it leaves nothing.
 
I couldn't find any sterile lint free wipes or cloths at my local drug store, so I just used Q-tips as well. Have to be carefull as it occasionally leaves a little "curly" behind.

BTW - My AXP 1800+ Paly left the lazer imprinted serial and model numbers burned in ASII in the face of my PAL 8045. I can't work it out with Isopropanol or acetone and q-tip and I'm affraid to scrub too much. I just moved on, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if a safe way to deal with it was found. I guess I could "lap" it, but I'm kinda hesitant to do that, as I'm kinda clutzy.
