Keep it because it is legally yours now and you have zero obligation to inconvience yourself with returning it over someone else's screw up. Not only that, get in contact with the company who sent your the extra kit, and tell them "Thank you for the extra items!" Once they know you they sent you the extra, they will not be able to charge you for the items, and they can address is internally and you still get to keep the extra kit!

Unordered Merchandise
Whether or not the Rule is involved, in any approval or other sale you must obtain the customer?s prior express agreement to receive the merchandise. Otherwise the merchandise may be treated as unordered merchandise. It is unlawful to:

1. Send any merchandise by any means without the express request of the recipient (unless the merchandise is clearly identified as a gift, free sample, or the like); or,
2. Try to obtain payment for or the return of the unordered merchandise.

That is right, if they try encouraging you to return the unordered kit, THEY are the ones breaking the law in this situation.

i'd call them and let them know there was an error. Let them know if they wanted whatever it was back, they would have to eat the shipping charge since i dont think it's any fault of mine they sent double, but if they did so, i'd mail back what i hadn't paid for.
but that's me i guess..

i wish we had a brag and moan thread... :D

/just do what you gotta do, no one here knows you, you can always say you "returned" the items or make up a story that you called the company and they told you to keep it. (only works if you don't believe in karma) :D

That it's a company is irrelevant. A company is a group of individuals, all negatively impacted by your actions here. So instead of screwing over one person, now you've screwed dozens.

Not at all. A company is out there for one purpose- to make money. They do what they can to take advantage of you, it's not your responsibility to pay for the mistakes they make.

An online trader or seller is just looking to get something for an older, less useful piece of hardware. They, for the most part, are not out for profit above all else.

Corporations are not your friends. I can't believe you would even try to compare the two.

You go to work everyday for one purpose - to make money. Therefore your boss is justified in ripping you off. This according to your logic.

Do you know how absurd you sound? EVERYONE with the possible exception of monks, are out to make a buck. Even private sellers are out to make as much as they can for their used goods.

Quit with the business hate. It's silly and pointless, and equates to nothing more than biting the hand that feeds you. Without companies and business you'd be scraping an existence from the ground and burying 3 out of every 4 of your children before their first birthday. That is, if you didn't starve after your first failed harvest.

Finally, My morality does NOT stop at my "friends." Social ethics MUST be universal, or they are useless.

#1 DivideByZero is not in the US.
#2 This is a very ambitious interpretation of the mail order code. The key phrase is "obtain the customer's prior express agreement to receive the merchandise." There is a difference between not obtaining the customer's agreement and obtaining the customer's agreement but mistakenly sending the wrong item or extra items.
