I got ripped off

So I thought my school sent this catalog to me for dorm room linens and me being stupid didnt think to look around. When I buy things for my computer I would spend like weeks researching... but I didnt do it for some damn bed sheets. Turns out this company isnt even related to my school but is using my schools logos in their catalogs and their envelopes. I bought one of their sets for $170 now i have to get money out of my pocket to ship it back.

The stuff came in but the quality looked like it was out of the 99 cent store. sigh

Maybe there is an agreement between your school and the company. If not, report them to your university. BTW, I'm fairly sure Target has those twin extra long sheets/comforters.

Quick googling says they dont. Im hoping shipping this big ol' box won't be too bad. Rather than eating $170

If there is a target near your university they will have everything you need for your college apt/dorm.

hahaha, did the EXACT same thing. Didn't get burnt for that much, but still pissed me off 🙂

What the heck was this stuff, 2000 thread count with platinum fibers woven into it?

I think I got 200 or 300 thread count sheets for $10 on clearance at Kmart. They work perfectly well.

you totally got ripped off.

I would ask your University if they associate with them. Usually they give their permission to solicit students and get a kick back for doing so.

It is not ripping off when you make a stupid purchase. Ripping off is when they advertise 600 thread count sheet and send you something made out of polyester.

You didn't look very hard...they are located on Target's website. Target and Wal-Mart have everything you need. I bought everything there when I lived on campus. I think Wal-Mart's quality has stepped up a bit...but maybe that is simply how it "looks". I usually bought all of my stuff at Target.

I linked you to the Twin XL stuff, because I am assuming thats what you were looking for:

Twin XL @ Target

For what it's worth, since the OP didn't explain it well, the $170 set included crappy towels, comforter, etc. I think the $170 package also includes a crappy little rug.

And, to the OP - Target had the exact same stuff, better quality, extra long mattress bedding set on sale for well under $50 in either late July or early August promoted specifically for college students. If I had to fathom a guess, I'd bet there are kickbacks to someone at the college for allowing these companies to associate with the college's name. Otherwise, why the hell wouldn't someone simply say "you can get these items at your local kmart/walmart/target."

Seriously? The best "Bed In A Bag" sets at Bed Bath and Beyond are $100 and you get sheets, pillow cases and a comforter. :Q

OP, how did you get ripped off? You knew what and how much it was before you ordered. Did they send you bricks or a dick in a box?
