How can you get those two signs mixed up? Dur. Dur. Just pay the ticket.

yellow?

Sounds like you need a ticket too.
Some are yellow. Sheesh.

I have yet to see those yellow ones:

I never said I wasn't going to pay it. If you read, you would see that I knew I made a mistake. However, from a far it seemed like a yeild, (dont ask why) but I didn't pay good enough attention.
Fine then. Pay the freaking ticket. You don't have to make a post about how you're unable to tell shapes and colors apart. Stop whining and get on with life.

That was not the point of the thread wanker. You are acting like I am stating that I refuse to pay the ticket.

Btw, this isn't whining. This is more of a lesson learned thread.
It is whining. You got a ticket for not knowing the rules of the road. You come here to post about it.

Regardless, I hope you've learned your shapes and colors now. LOL :)

There is a difference between a whining thread and a lesson learned thread. Perhaps you need help differentiating between the two.

They're yellow in NH..FL as well.

btw, thanks Mugs. THis is my first ticket so I don't know much lol. But I will look into it. My brother says he will help me take care of things.

See if you can attend a traffic school/class -- four hours and maybe 30 bucks..but it should remove the points from your license and give you a reduced fine.

The ones around here are yellow. Regardless, it's pitiful the OP doesn't know the difference between a stop sign and a yield sign. They are very different looking signs ya know.

Funny that they would put a stop sign on the excess road instead of a yield.

Well then maybe you should take that up with whoever is in charge of signage in that spot.

I grew up in FL and never saw a yellow one, not arguing, i was just surprised.

I lived in Gainesville for the last six years - I could've sworn they were yellow. Meh..maybe not...not too many yield signs around..mostly traffic lights.

OP: Isn't it funny how when someone complains about a ticket, people tell him to fight it..and when someone says he got one & is paying, they tell him to stop whining? :p

Not to excuse the op for careless driving, but just about every stop sign I see these days is
a red & white triangle... once in a great while I see one of the old yellow ones, but I think they are being phased out.

Go to court.

Will you get points against your driving license in your state if found guilty?

If your officer shows, seek him out beforehand and ask if he will consent to asking the judge to let you plead guilty to a lesser, non-moving violation that will bring with it a lesser fine and NO POINTS. Points are bad for your insurance rate, especially if you are young and male.

And don't even bother bringing up that you "slowed down to 25". Rightly or wrongly, neither the cop nor the judge cares. They've heard every quibble and justification in the book, and actually respond better if you DON"T try to justify yourself.

Dress as conservatively as possible. Good luck.

Haha yeah. "I'm gonna pay the ticket." STOP WHINING AND PAY THE TICKET! :p

Captante, yes, I was being careless. I learned from my mistake. But still weird they have a stop sign instead of a yeild on the excess road.

And thanks for the tips Perknose. I've never been to court so your tips are very helpful. Also, I figured that saying I slowed down wouldn't help. That's why I just kept my mouth shut when he pulled me over. :)

Thanks for the tips!

Oh yes. To answer this question Perknose:

Will you get points against your driving license in your state if found guilty?

I'm sure. But I was told for small things you shouldn't have to worry. But not sure if that is even true. I'll ask my older brother about it.

First mistake is when you tell an officer you don't know why he or she is pulling you over...they just think, "this idiot is really that dense or just being a prick...in either case, they deserve a ticket."

If you know you ran a stop sign...say you ran a stop sign but thought it was a yield until it was too late, etc. Explain that you don't drive around there much, were temporarily confused, not thinking quite right, but at least knew that there were no cars around thus knew that you weren't doing anything really dangerous.

Then the cop thinks, "well, at least they're being honest and they were not being totally brain dead..." and maybe they let you off with a warning.

I've received 2 tickets in 13 years of driving, no accidents (thank God), and I've received about 10 warnings because I was honest with the cop and told them what was I thinking at the time "driving wise".

Oh whoops. Another dumb one by me. I was nervous so I couldn't of much to say. Plus, I didn't want to say much so I don't make things worse. The only thing I was thinking of was "Why is there a stop sign on the excess road?" But that doesn't excuse my stupid driving.

Interesting.

"Do you know that yield signs have not been yellow since the early 1970s? Yet, because we often don't really see them, our minds still think of them that way (yellow). Back about 1974, the United States adopted the international standards for road signs and since that time, ALL yield signs have been red and white. I guarantee you have not SEEN a yellow yield sign on a public roadway for over 20 years."
