I got pulled over

For running a stop sign. It appeared to me as a Yield sign. There was a person who was far ahead of me. He just passed up the stop sighn, so I assumed it really was a yeild. So as I am driving up I look to the side and behind to see if there was oncoming traffic, which there were NO cars at all. I went ahead and passed up this stop sign, assuming it was a Yeild. As I am driving, a cop magically appeared from behind. I pulled into a parking lot.

Cop: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: No sir.
Cop: You just ran a stop sign. Can I see your license and insurance?
Me: Yes sir.

I handed him my insurance, license. I was angry because this was the first time I got pulled over. The cop didn't have an attitude, but had that so called attitude in the voice.

He came back with the ticket and I proceeded to sign it.

Cop: The stop sign was right there.
Me: Yeah I thought... (Interupted)
Cop: You could have caused an accident.

The cop walked away. I looked at the ticket, and the court date is on Jan. 23rd
The cop didn't even let me talk. But that would have been pointless anyways.

What I find funny is that I make one mistake and I get in trouble for it. But I see lots of people speeding, running reds, etc and get away with it. I just didn't get lucky. Something tends to happen to me every time I am driving. My luck blows when I drive.

Oh well. I'm not angry at teh cop. I made a stupid mistake.
 
yes and I realized my error. I wasn't paying close attention.

Also, I forgot to say something. I did slow down a lot. I was going about 50 and slowed to about 25 before passing the stop sign. The cop stated I made no attempt to even slow down, which wasnt true.

I never said I wasn't going to pay it. If you read, you would see that I knew I made a mistake. However, from a far it seemed like a yeild, (dont ask why) but I didn't pay good enough attention.

I never said I wasn't going to pay it. If you read, you would see that I knew I made a mistake. However, from a far it seemed like a yeild, (dont ask why) but I didn't pay good enough attention.

Fine then. Pay the freaking ticket. You don't have to make a post about how you're unable to tell shapes and colors apart. Stop whining and get on with life.
 
Yeah, that was a pretty stupid mistake. It's easy to just look at the side of the road and see what kind of sign it is. 🙂 Lesson learned I hope. Hopefully not too expensive. 🙂

Edit: Look into whether your state offers deffered adjudication or traffic school to avoid an insurance hike.

And smoochytx, a yield sign is not yellow, it is red and white. Edit2: apparantly it can be either 😕

It is whining. You got a ticket for not knowing the rules of the road. You come here to post about it.

btw, thanks Mugs. THis is my first ticket so I don't know much lol. But I will look into it. My brother says he will help me take care of things.
