hey! this might throw me into eternal "nerd-dom", but I actually named my first cat Spot because of Data's cat!! It helped that the cat was actually cow-spotted, but still....

Then, years later, I got a tabby kitten and couldn't think of what to name HER, so I thought that since Spot was spotted...well...the logic follows - the tabby had to be named Stripe. So I had Spot and Stripe. When I had a baby, I told her she was lucky I didn't name her "Child1".
