A few months back I overclocked with clockgen. I bumped my bus up to 236 x 10, mind you that I did not have an AGP/PCI lock. So what I did was fry the ram chips on the video card and might possibly the core. Games crashed when the thing heated up enough and now today the monitor couldnt wake up from hibernation. And when I restarted it booted up with artifacts in windows.

Popped in my 6800GT an walla! All fixed. =) Now its time to benchmark the 6800GT.

Im running a K8V deluxe 1 GB corsair PC3200 AMD 3000 64 @ 2.0 Ghz. I might bump the cpu up to 2.15 Ghz later and see how much of a gain Ill get.

The 6800GT is made by eVGA.

3dmark 2003 is first. Followed by Far Cry.

Ok first results. With my system at complete stalk I went from 5800 3D2003 Marks to 10820 marks!

And I got my 5800 Score by overclocking my CPU to 2.2 Ghz with an overclocked 9800 pro! This is just amazing!

Edit: I even had the control panel set on Quality! lol. If I stock it on performance I would of gotten well over 11000.

Now time to overclock just the GT.

Ok. I regedited cool bits 2. I tested for optimal timings and got 415 Mhz/1160 Mhz. I think Ill drop it down to 400/1100 just to be safe. So now I have a 6800 Ultra =)

Anyone seen a reviews of the eVGA 6800 GT? It really seems that this card is now pretty much available, so it would seem odd that it hasn't been reviewed yet.

Anandtech reviewed the eVGA 6800 Ultra, but not the GT.

for future reference, if you are usuing coolbits you can hold down the shift key when windows starts and it will go into windows with defeault settings.

or...if your runnign win xp

you can hit f8 like you are going to start in safe mode and "enable VGA mode" and it will knock your card down to it's lowest settings when windows starts and allow you to change the settings for the next reboot in normal mode.

Anyway congrats for your new purchase

Thanks Jim and Shad0hawK.

I've noticed some rendering problems with far cry using the new drivers. Seems like the problems ATI has with its mipmaps on a few surfaces. Minor but noticable. I don't know if its because of the drivers or the overclock. It doesnt seem like artifcating. Because eveything else is perfect except for a few level surfaces that switch shades of color on some angels. I would expect to see some heavy pixelation or object distortation on eye level if it was the Ram.

Plus 3dmark 2003 ran without a problem with no rendering errors.

Driver version 6.1.3.4 Date 6/2/2004. The ones on Nvidias site are from April!

That's awesome. The GT is the card I'm considering, and I would be going from my 9700PRO. It would probably more than double my current performance. I still think I'm going to hold off awhile longer though. I'll see how my system does with HL2 and Doom3, then I'll make a serious decision.

Congrats!
