I got my 24 inch monitor

I've got 2 24" monitors. Dual monitors is a much. I put my primary application on the left and a browser on the right.

Use virtual desktops. Your O/S does that, right? All modern O/Ss do :^D

Yeah, I just never really got used to working that way. I need another monitor. Two look unbalanced anyway. I need one to the right.

I have a couple of "28 inch" (27.5 inch viewable) 1920x1200 monitors and I really wish I could get the same resolution in 30 inch.

  • My eyes suck
  • Windows doesn't handle DPI scaling correctly
  • I can't see shit on my 30 inch 2560x1600 display

I'm spoiled and can't go back to 24 inches.

Same here, don't mind the low PPI at all with my 27" monitor @ 1920. Games don't require as much GPU power or VRAM, either. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been better off with a 32" TV as a monitor.

Welcome to the 21st century. I've been using one since 2008 and I am sure others have been before me. What delayed your half-decade indoctrination?

Larger resolution = smaller text (for a given screen size). 24" 1920x1080 will have larger text than 24" 3840x2160

Yup, like before you install gfx drivers. Everything's big and chunky. If you go the other way, and make it finer, everything gets smaller.

so is there a way to have text be bigger but everything else be finer?

Yea I'm old. Blow me.

On windows? You can control text size. It's somewhere in the personalization or accessibility settings.

That is only the beginning. Pretty soon you will want multiples. And then you will want multiples of bigger monitors.

I just ordered a 3rd Dell U2412M to replace my aging NEC 20WMGX2 (which was "only" 20"). once I get it I will be running 5760x1200.

3x U2412M is my current setup and it's definitely hard to go back.

Yea I'm old. Blow me.

I just got bifocals earlier this year. still not used to them.

If on Win7, go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display

Also, Start->Run and then type in Display. First option under Control panel.

Had that monitor for almost 7 years (late 2005- mid 2012) paid $650 IIRC, then upgraded to a Yamakasi 2703.
Eventually gave it away to my niece's 13 year old son who assembled his first i7-3770K system last mid August. :awe:

Might end up giving my dual Yamakasis for a 4K upgrade.

13 year olds haven't yet earned the right to have their own personal i7. :colbert:

I was around Best Buy during black friday and found that Dell E2412Hr for $100 as well, did you pick yours up during that sale? I think its a good monitor for the price as well as a $100 Kindle Fire hd 16gb for the same price which i also got.🙂
Actually, I got it on Amazon (no taxes 🙂 )
I knew I was getting a 100 dollar 24 inch, since there were a couple of ads floating around with different brands of 24 inchers for 100

Also, I don't think this is really bragging since I did live with a 19 inch monitor for so long
