I got my 24 inch monitor

Meh, I have a 24, but I've used an Apple 27". Now THAT thing is big -- can't read shit on it though.

And holy shit this thing is huge.

How does one utilize all the space of a 24 inch?

That is only the beginning. Pretty soon you will want multiples. And then you will want multiples of bigger monitors.

I just ordered a 3rd Dell U2412M to replace my aging NEC 20WMGX2 (which was "only" 20"). once I get it I will be running 5760x1200.

I've been running a Dell 2405 FPW for around 8 years now. Love it.

Had that monitor for almost 7 years (late 2005- mid 2012) paid $650 IIRC, then upgraded to a Yamakasi 2703.
Eventually gave it away to my niece's 13 year old son who assembled his first i7-3770K system last mid August. :awe:

Might end up giving my dual Yamakasis for a 4K upgrade.

Same here! March 2005. Paid ~$900 for it and never regretted it. Still the monitor for my main desktop to this day.

T_Yamamoto --you'll be using plenty of multiple windows soon enough to fill up that space. and when you do, remember: windows key + <-- or --> arrow keys tiles them evenly across the monitor.

Nice! Yeah I think I paid closer to 900 bones for mine. But 8 years later it is still going strong. Love it. :awe:

I have 2 24" monitors at work and don't feel like its enough space. 2 24" at home too, but I'm considering replacing both with a single 27" or 30".

i use one in landscape for most of the work and the other in portrait for outlook / IM / docs. works great!

WOW! I did not know this.

This is so helpful. I've been trying to resize the screens by hand and its been a pain.

If you grab the top of the window and bring it to the side, it will "snap" it to half the width of the screen also.

And don't forget windows key + tab

it's like alt+tab, but better 🙂

I know the snap thing but its not really quick.

Yeah, I use alt tab.

I never really use windows key tab

I find with monitors now days bigger is not always better. It just takes up more space on the desk, not give you more resolution. 24" is a happy medium though. Wide screen 24" is basically like normal 19". Would not want to go bigger unless I could also get more resolution, but seems we're stuck at 1080p for monitors these days. There are "specialty" ones that are higher res but you pay huge bucks for that.
