I got me a flu shot today. Did you get yours?

the flu shot is less thatn 30% effective. I dont see the point. the shot wont do you any good with flu strain that is going around here in Colorado killing kids.

I've gotten it once and got the flu right afterwards. Without getting it I get the flu less than 10% of the years
 
Never got a flu shot before this year but got one since I'm now a father. The shot hurt less than a paper cut.

You do understand that you didn't get the flu from the shot, right? You would've gotten the flu whether or not you got the shot. Worst case of flu I ever got was a couple days after I got my first flu shot. I had already been exposed, and it takes you a couple weeks to build up immunity after you've had the shot.

I got a shot this year. Happened to walk by the table at Costco just before Halloween, last day of their flu shot clinics. I have never gotten the flu when I've gotten a shot (unless it happened in the first week after the shot), but I have historically gotten the flu most years that I haven't gotten a shot (though I seem to get fewer colds the older I get.) I debate each year whether to bother, as I have an overactive immune system to begin with and I worry about having an autoimmune flareup, but I almost always end up getting the shot, and haven't had any problems so far.

I thought that only happened in kids... and hasn't been effectively proven. Furthermore, isn't it just a single preservative that's supposed to cause it?
 
Screw the flu shot. The flu shot seems to keep you from getting the flu by giving you a cold for a year. I've never had the shot though.

It's been a little over a decade since I've had the flu anway (knock on wood). A little longer since I've had a cold. It's weird, I was a sickly little kid. Allergies, colds, ear infections, etc. Then it just kind of went away and now I get sick basicly never (knock on wood) Go figure *shrugs*
 
oh crap, I forgot to get mine when they were offering it. I don't know if they offer it now.

We pay like $70/term in incidental fees every term to Student Health Service, yet we have to pay for everything we go in there for. Freaking retarded.

Unfortunately for you, you've only built up an immunity to one strain of the flu... the other strains can still get ya'. Personally, I'm figuring that since so many people got the shot around me, there's no one left to get infected and pass it on to me. 🙂

Ahh, but it will lessen the impact of the other strains greatly, so I'm not really worried about it 😉
 
Too late now. There's mass hysteria and you couldn't get a shot if you wanted one. I've tried.
