So I just moved to a new town a few months ago. Long story short: I was diagnosed with cancer 1 year ago--not too serious, it is at least manageable. My physician recommended that I try marijuana to combat the nausea and loss of appetite from the chemo...but that was a no-go because I was living in Utah, amongst the mormons.

So, off to Colorado! Plus, I like skiing. So that helps. Anyway, now I can legally obtain MJ, which is nice and not too spendy. And damn! This really does work! Problem is that I think maybe I enjoy it too much? dunno.

Anyway, I'm between jobs at the moment because my next contract doesn't begin until December (fortunately, with the ACA, I am now covered with my cancer treatment--I don't have to die from a treatable disease simply because I can't afford it. Thanks, Obama!.) Of course, that doesn't pay for food or my new "pain mitigation." So I find myself walking downtown and realize that I'm really short on money this month--barely enough to pay the rent, so I do something that I never thought I would do: I ask a stranger for free food.

So here I am, in the McDonald's parking lot, hoping to score a free burger. Sucks, because I swore I would never eat such shitty food again in my life, but if I'm going to beg for food, it might as well be the cheapest form of digestible sawdust.

Up rolls this local in his beat-up pick-up truck. As he moves to the passenger side to unload his rather rotund lady friend (I suppose it's his mom--she looks quite a bit older but also a bit groggy. Something's going on here...). He sees me approaching and quickly reaches for his wasteband! I'm like: "Don't shoot bro!" and toss up my arms. He retreats a bit and manages a rather begrudging smile and mutters "what you want?"

I give him my spiel--I'm really hungry and just need a quick meal; trying to be friendly I tell him that I move here for medical reasons (Well, I mentioned pot--He clearly started judging me at that moment. Perhaps I should have been more clear?). Anyway, he kindly offers to buy me some food but is clearly uncomfortable at that point.

He did mention that he was carting his mom off to the hospital to check on a blood clot, so I was lucky that he thought to stop by McDonald's and feed her on the way....I was going to respond to that but thought, nah forget it--dude bought me some free food!

Brook story Co brought to you by atots brool story and company

I personally can't touch the stuff anymore for health reasons, but if it's working for you, great

sorry to hear about the cancer 🙁 hopefully the MJ will help you.

i'm actually skeptical about marijuana's "medical properties," BUT, i do think it probably has some analgesic effects for those with pain... and can improve the appetites of cancer patients.

9/10. Forgot to tell us the kind stranger had a cigarette in his mouth before, during and after his drive through meal and about the stickers on the back of his beat up pickup truck.

Anyway, what do we say to the God of hunger? Not today!

The dude who did that for you was undoubtedly a paragon of the community. A veritable Jesus or Angel sent down from the Creator itself. A shining self-less beacon of all that is good!
