I got engaged this weekend

I proposed to my long-term GF this weekend and now we're engaged 😀
Perhaps the most common response has been "about time", but we're there now. Will probably get married summer (eg Jan/Feb 2013), because this summer is too close.

Also her mum gave us $400 Aussie dollars for our holiday this year as a gift 😀

It's just bad timing. Her sister got married in January this year, and I don't want to put her mother through that again so soon (she did virtually all of the wedding planning/organising etc). Also, we've already planned/paid for a holiday to Australia in September, so we're not going to have any money, and weddings are expensive (we're not from rich families). Shit happens but oh well, if recent history is any indicator, the time will zip by pretty fast.

She has excellent genes - her mum and dad are both slim/fit, and her mum always lost her pregnant weight very rapidly.
