Okay I'm just starting out (23) and have never had a credit card before. I just had to clear up an inconsistency with my social security number with one of the major credit houses. I now have Bon Marche and JCPenny's cards, and applied for a Master Card. I got denied on the Master Card though. Whats the easiest credit card to get??

Thanks in advance

Okay I just tried Capitol One Gold card and got denied on that!!!

Are you a student? A lot of CC companies offer student CC's that are easy to get if you are a student. I got a American Express Student card on my first try, and I had no credit.

I got a CapitalOne card with a 1k credit limit no problems -- and I'm a part time worker / college student...

Not to mention it's my first card ever.

damn, "jsut starting out" at 23. I'm 21 and have 9k in credit card debt.... damn you American Express!

I got my first CC at 18....

Anyway, get something with a low limit, it's too easy to run those cards up...

Just walk into your local bank and apply for a card there. They'll most likely issue you a $500 credit limit card.

going down though 🙂
I'm paying it off w00t

Well, the amex bill is my only big bill (besides rent), everything else is small: cell phone, electricity, cable, etc. I don't have a car payment or anything.

capitol one doesn't turn down ANYBODY. I got my first app when i was 17, filled it out, and a couple weeks later got the card (as i had just turned 18). I started out with a $300 limit, then it went to $3000, and now i think i'm just shy of $10,000. I've had capitol one for almost two years now and i pay my bill off every month in full (sometimes $2500 bills).

I dunno..i'm just hoping that when i turn 21, i'll have a good start to establishing good credit.

alittle OT, where's a good place to get my credit report from the big 3 credit rating companies? last one i got was a free one and that was awhile ago.. 🙂

Equifax.com
Experian.com
Transunion.com

A FICO score of ~700 is typically considered "A" credit.

I know for a fact that the easiest place to qualify for a credit card with little, no or bad credit is at Capital One.

The easiest credit card to qualify for does have one stipulation though, since it's a secured credit card it does require at least a $99 deposit and $39 annual fee but it is one of THE EASIEST cc's ever to qualify for.

Don't go around applying for every credit card you think you can qualify for, every signed application whether you are approved or decline counts as an inquiry on your credit history. Get a few of those within a 12 month period and your chances of being approved go down, down, down.

thanks john.. i just did a search on yahoo and they have a 3 bureau credit report...

about the score, should 1 from equifax a good indicator of the other two, Experian & TransUnion? reason im asking is that the $34.95 price includes a free score from Equifax, but an extra $5 each to get scores from Experian and TransUnion. tia

$34.95? That' s a major rip off I thought it used to be $8 per credit bureau?

thanks for bringing that up.. you're right. it's alittle overpriced. i thought it was alittle easier. ill probably just got and get all of them individually. experian has the credit report + credit score for 12.95, transunion is $8 with free score, and equifax is $9 ($12.95 with credit score). so it'll come out to ~$34 for all 3.. but that includes credit scores from all of them vs. getting it from consumerinfo.com for $34.95 which only includes credit score from equifax ($44.95 for all 3 with credit scores).

I don't like those services like consumerinfo.com although you can cancel them during the trial period I still prefer to get the info straight from the horse's mouth.

So I would go option 1.

for the record, not all capitol one cards are secured, nor do they all have high APRs or annual fees. I have yet to have a high APR or annual fee.

I am surprised they are not jumping all over you with pre-approved cards, etc. I get a few of those in the mail every week. I've only used 2 credit cards in my entire life, my Firstusa VISA and my Chase MC.

if you have a checking account at a bank, and have a good record with not overdrafting, then try to get a credit card right through them.

i am 18, and have had my current job for 3 years, and dont make much money per year, but was still approved for a $500 creidt card limit.
