i got chewed out by a irish guy for saying i am 1/8 irish

i was talking family ancestry and i guess he thought i was claiming to be from the irish culture

he said it's very offensive in europe to claim to be from somewhere because your ancestors were from there

i guess i don't understand europe

Hopefully he gave u the middle finger and yelled out " youuuuu aiiiint shiiiiiiit, faaaaack uuuuu " like these thot hoes.

You should've just went with it since the guy chose to be offended and wondered rhetorically "How the potato famine might've turned out if the notoriously alcoholic Irish realized they could make potato vodka...."

or some other offensive observation about Irish culture.

They're considerin to stab you...
Cause you stink

youuuuu aiiiint shiiiiiiit, faaaaack uuuuu!

i've noticed this about americans before. it's like you have a need to belong to some group outside your own. "i'm 1/64 mogwai" or something. you having an irish great grandpa doesn't make you irish. it's no difference than a while guy walking around saying he's black because of a few drops of blood. it's nonsense. never seen this outside of n.america. maybe a need to belong to "the old country" or something.

The correct answer is "who cares, it's Europe"

It has the multi-benefit of making him even angrier (which can be funny as long as he's not armed) and also asserting your position and an American stereotype that doesn't give a shit about anywhere else except USA.

why? europes great. great culture and old sights to see. not the same thing spread out over a huge area and a history that can be covered on a leaflet. plus we have our defence paid for by americans so we can all be socialist and have the best healthcare on the planet (part paid for by americans) while they don't have it themselves. it's great here. apart from britain. out weather sucks balls and i'm too lazy to move.

Ancestry.com hates people like you.😀

The wife and I were having a similar conversation. It's an interesting tidbit to know your dna results but doesn't make a hill of beans in the real world unless you're going to get a casino check or something.

It's not all of America, but there does seem to be a lot of people obsessed with their heritage and family tree. I'm one of the ones that don't care... I'm part German, French, very little native American, all sorts of stuff if you look back far enough. Does that matter to me? Nope, but it does for some people.

I partly believe that things like ancestry.com are a crock of shit. You're paying them to find out a bunch of information about your background that you don't know, so you have no idea if what they show you is bullshit or not.

They have to be somewhat accurate. Linked both of my cousins to me and a 2nd that lives in the northern part of the state.

I'm all white bread except for that 4% Portuguese.

Met a black lady when we were in Colorado Springs that found out she's 25% Scots/Irish. She had no idea. They're planning a trip there next year.

Just wait 5 min. 😀

waiting for global warming? as a brit i'm ok with it. apparently during roman times they made a lot of great wine here due to the higher temp.

let the globe get warmer until i get greeces weather here. then i'm golden. and brown.

Yutta Hey! Now pay me, my red brethren!
I'm 1/4 Sioux, 1/8 Cheyenne...and COULD probably qualify for benefits...but I've never been tribal in my life, didn't grow up on the res...so I don't figure I earned them.

The rest of my ancestry is muddy...quite a mix of nationalities...Heinz 57.

There's nothing wrong with knowing your ancestry...hell, if you find out you're Irish...that would maybe explain why you like to drink...😛

Like I needed another reason.

The 14% Swedish was unexpected. Does that and a buck get me a cup of coffee? 😉

We do that in Canada more than Americans do, it seems. It's because we are Immigrants, even if it's been generations since our first Ancestors came here..
