I got chased by a goose today

I went to one of our local parks today (Springbank Park) and while enjoying the peaceful surroundings I was harassed by a Canada Goose.

I was just walking along the path near the river when I noticed a goose start to follow me around. All the other geese were just doing their thing eating grass and pooping. This one decided to act like a dog and go begging for food.

Darn thing followed me for 50 feet before I led it to a group of other people. So it went after them for food. These birds can be very aggressive when defending a nest, but I have never seen one aggressively begging for food before.

LOL, I should have taken my camera but I forgot it at home.

Otherwise it was nice to have some quiet down time.

😀

I saw about 20 geese walking across a busy intersection today using the crosswalk. They even waited for the light to turn as well. Pretty funny 🙂

I walked too close to a nest one time and a Canadian goose started running after me. I turned around just in time to see it fly a few inches over my head. I probably should not have hissed at them.

edit: we have a small man-made lake close to our house that is surrounded by a walking path controlled by these pests. Every year the HOA organizes a posse that shakes the eggs to keep them from hatching.

I would've kick it in the head, break its neck, plug its feathers and roasted the motherfucker.

To bad Canadian Geese are protected otherwise they would make good eating. 🙁

Protected? Really?
Geez, with all the flocks I'd see back home, I'd have thought them to be nearly as well-off as pigeons.

And at one local pond, there was a group that'd come back year after year to get screwed by a domestic white male goose. Each year, the flock would get progressively whiter.
Charming critters, too - they'd sit in the road as their goslings crossed, hissing at waiting cars the whole time.

They scare the hell out of me when I'm flying. I had one close encounter picking up a banner. the plane ahead of me spooked them up, and several came up as I was on approach to hook the banner. I beaned one with the grapple hook as I maneuvered to avoid them. The ground crew said it went into the lake like a lawn dart😛
