That ticket wont be that bad if its your first.
Just play innocent and dumb in court, the judge will probably see through it, but he wont see through the clean record.

And as for street racing, I think its dumb, mainly because I dont have a fast car 😀
But ragardless, I say have fun, but dont get caught or kill someone.
YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!

thanks AndrewR. These people are either going to learn the hard way or the hard way. To be honest there is no "prize" in this event. If you do come out alive the only thing you'll probably gain from it, is: little respect, $$, and other meaningless things. There is no point putting yourself in danger and risking your own life just to prove that your rice rocket is faster than his/her (i think women do this too :|) They know what they are up against and they know the risks that follow, however the pressure, and the "manlyness" combine in this and they claim they need to do this for their pride or to prove someone wrong. Which is completely idiotic.

I hoped you learned something from this Layzie if not then may god be with you when your going 100 and for some reason you seem to loose control of your vehicle. Let this be a lesson to all you here in Anandtech and everyone else.

My one suggestio is that fines and punishment should be greater in all states.

dude you weren't racing for money??? wahahaha thats lame.

at least put down some cash like some singles ($100) on a race.

Sometimes the prize is the race. I once raced a Mustang GT convertible at 1AM on a freeway (top ender type), didn't know the guy, no reving engines or squeeling tires, we were at 50-60MPH to start. As soon as we started to come up on traffic the race ended and we went our own way. It was a chance to let us both open up the throttles and it only lasted about 1/2 a mile or so while we could see clearly 1 mile down the road. Noone was put in danger, nothing was bet, it was just a fun, gentleman's race. (I won due to the drag of him being in a convertible).

Anyone who races in buisness or residential districts is asking for trouble.

Well i dont race for money just for the rush. The speed linit was 35 and he said i was doing 65. Exactly 65....i dont think so, but thats what he said, dont know if i should try to fight it or just pay.

Now the cop said he saw me n the other guy peelin out, he peeled out not me, and im not sure where he was when he saw it but i know he wasnt behind me, i checked. but oh well, im gettin more and more nervous about it , but hey, i gots to face it.

Demon-Xanth-

Thats what i do when i race, when i feel that it'll get more dangerous i let off

<< I hoped you learned something from this Layzie >>

Learned and it will stay learned. 🙂

<< View the trailer at the above link; maybe it'll re-inspire a few of you guys to street race. >>

Haha, but if that impresses you then I feel sorry for ya man.

telling people to street race is as retarded as telling people not to. people will do what they want without YOU telling them.

and really, dragging is BORING. wow look i can shift faster! oo i have my shiftpoints better than you! i spent more money on my car than you! those little stoplight races are fun sometimes, but they don't prove that you are truly a better driver.

a rich boy's car can always be faster than yours, but you may be able to drive better ^_^

<< people will do what they want without YOU telling them. >>

No doubt they will, I'm in no way trying to tell people what to do, I'm just saying them what they do is ignorant 😉 (like I said I've done it to.....) Its not telling them what to do, its trying to point out points of logic that perhaps they haven't heard/thought of before.

Drag racing isn't all abotu shifting faster or who spent more money, it can be about who has a better reaction time, who has tuned their chassis for the best traction, consistency, a huge list of things actually. Either way if you dont like the straight line ride there are rallys, autocross and a ton of other things you can do in your car in a safer environment than the streets.

Im guessing youve never been in a street race, or have a car. but im not flaming, im just saying thats how some of us get our kicks, look at bungee jumpin, youd never catch me doin that cause to me thats dangerous, and im pretty sure thats how you see racing.

Everyone who's said that street racing is stupid, dumb, and ego exercise obviously doesn't have the lust for driving and speed that captures many adolescents, like myself, and for some lasts (showing an actual devotion to this hobby.)

Now I'll be the first to agree that doing this in any kind of populated area is completely stupid and you've got a good chance you'll crash and kill someone (yourself and/or others.) That's exactly the reason I don't speed over 5-10 mph when I have anyone else in the car.

Having said that, racing on your own or with another driver (preferably one you know to be skilled) in a reasonably remote location is well within the realms of safety and is damn fun.

Probably the biggest problem is little kiddies that think they're bada$$ and indestructible, driving fast and dangerously to "look good." That's the one occasion I enjoy boxing someone in, hehe. I'm personally quite aware of my limits (and my cars) and don't exceed them

Yah, the cop was a freakin liar Passat. He didn't even clock you... :|

Once you pile up enough $250 tickets like I have, its kinda instinctive while driving your car. Even as much of a POS that my car is, it has a big cam sound (well, sometimes 😛) and it sets the ricers off. Just kinda instinctive now, but I usually won't race.

We're shutting down your engines, kids. Although there have been some thoughtful remarks in this thread, there have been far too many cocky, sneering posts praising an illegal, stupid, and potentially fatal activity.
