I could buy a new CPU for what you said, but I also need a mobo, a case, ram... just not feesable.

Also, I do have enough money sitting in my bank right now to actually do it. I just want a job to be able to replace the money in a pay cheque or two.. Im not RossMAN sorry :)

Oh, one more MAJOR issue, with a few drivers back, (not sure when they fixed it) Half-Life and any game based on it (TFC, Counter-Strike) was unplayable on this card unless you edited the config.cfg and added two lines. For some reason their smoothing technology was turned on for this card. But only the 8500 or better can do it in hardware. So the smoothing was off loaded to the CPU, which made the game horribly slow. It was a tiny slip up, but a HUGE mistake.

Im just annoyed.. Its been a year now, and there are still HUGE issues with the drivers, and the MOST popular games.. They should be fixed.

I guess I was just spoiled with pretty well bug free nVidia drivers for the three years prior to 'upgrading' to this card..

I still REALLY doubt it is ATI's fault. DID YOU DO A CLEAN O/S INSTALL WHEN YOU CHANGED YOUR VID CARD?

I had an (original) Radeon 64 DDR VIVO - the Catalyst Drivers were superb for it right until I upgraded a few weeks ago to an 8500. ATI does support their older cards.

And you should just be able to upgrade your CPU - 1Ghz Celeron for the price of ONE video game.

Odd, I've never experienced either the missing floors, or vanishing shadows you depict--and that's with the demo and far older (6015) drivers. The only graphical glitches me and my Radeon DDR-aka-7200-equipped rig have been confronted with are the occasional missing or "shimmering" texture.

Granted, even after upgrading drivers, I'll continue to use Rage3D Tweak as well. ;)

You get the lines around the gun fire too? I never had that problem with my TNT.. And they wernt there with the first release of the ATI drivers.. they showed up on the second release I installed. So I went back.. to the first ones (from January). Then I upgraded to Catalyst 2.2 and the glitches were there again, and still there with 2.3.

Also, DID YOU DO A CLEAN O/S INSTALL WHEN YOU CHANGED YOUR VID CARD?.. yes silly

I was just trying to help . . . I'm not the "silly" with the underperforming CPU complaining about non-existant ATI bugs.

They arnet non-existent lol.. I proved they are there.. :)

Well I guess the problem could be the fact that my CPU isnt pushing enough geometry.. but just like Viper said, that shouldnt be an issue. If it is, it would indicate theres a much larger problem with the game or the drivers. If you understand how 3D renders work, you'd see a huge issue with a lack of geometry causing rendering issues (the game should be able to scale)..

Again, im not complaining about speed, im complaining about rendering issues. Like I said, I get about 20-40 FPS during typical game play, and up to 60FPS on occasion. 20-40 FPS is very playable.

Well, I tried the game with Dynamic lighting turned off, and it seems to have helped, I can no longer see through walls/floors, so the game is actually playable now. The only problem that still occurs is the occasional missing shadow....

Also I just ran the benchmark, not in the cleanest of methods, but I got about...

Flyby: 36fps
Botmatch: 12.5fps
Resolution: 800x600 (32bit color)

Umm, if I'm correct you are talking about the Smoothvision that was automatically enabled. Most of teh older ATI cards couldn't handle it until the 8500 correct, bt there is no necessary editing of the config file. You just run a console command in CS to turn it off. I forgot what it was... its been ages.

I have radeon 8500, and I am experiencing these issues in WC3, where some tiles in textures are missing. Similarly I am missing some tiles in GTA3.

No problems here either, my 8500 displays nothing but beauty. It has to be that old crappy system, perhaps a compatibility issue?, you never know.

I thought you had a Matrox Parahelia...?

I think he ditched it when he figured out that it was another over-hyped, overpriced Matrox product.
