I got bad CD's with Quake 4! WTF!

There are white marks on three of my four install CD's for Quake 4. CD 1 is fine, CD 2 has the worst large white mark, CD 4 has a similar, smaller white mark and cd 3 has clearly been marred by scraping against the plastic cd spindle pin....

Install hangs after requesting CD 2

How long have cd's been produced? Why is this crap happening in 2005?

I didn't have that problem. I wished I got the DVD version but the CD version came on a very well-designed spindle/case that made me feel it was worth the $10 savings.

Maybe you need a better CD reader?

BTW, I got a bad netflix dvd this weekend so I know media can be rotten.

You can't fix HUGE WHITE MARKS IN THE CD SUBSTRATE. These CD's are GARBAGE and I am infuriated that such piss poor quality control can still exist on CDROM fabrication in 2005

I tried a Samsung 52x16x52 CDRW 16x DVD-ROM Combo drive and a Pioneer 16x DVD 40x CD-ROM Slot Injection drive and NEITHER could read the media.

I sprung for the DVD for CoD2 and I am very happy I did that, but I could spit nails over this nonsense with quake here....

Yeah, I've never had a problem returning games for an exchange of the same game. Heck, you could even be a turd and save the cd-key, lol. Although this wouldn't be nice unless it was from BestBuy! :laugh:
