to sleeve my power supply with eletrical tape 😕 i was sick of all those wires hanging everywhere. even with zipties they were a nuisance. tell me what you think. in not completely done, i have to run to the hardware store to pick up some more tape.

**UPDATE** i did this to mine, and my brothers computer. they turned out very nicely IMO.

There are a couple of problems with doing that with electrical tape.

1. The tape will peel off when exposed to heat
2. There will be a vry sticky residue left on the wires when the plastic tape falls off

If you keep on top of it, it can look nice and does clean up the wires decently.

i was thinking about the heat, but the case is very well ventilated with 2 intakes, and 2 exhaust plus the video and PSU fans. if it doesnt work out, its no big deal, i just thought it looked neat 🙂

<-----thinks about UV eletrical tape....

Try using some neat wire tie's that fasten with the tape? Do that on the start of the tape, so it doesnt come loose.

Just could work.

Disclaimer: I AM NOT responsable for your computer by these actions 😀

I did that once and yeah, it does eventually start to peel off and it does leave sticky residue. What I use now is basically Nylon cable sleeving which you can get in any color, UV, Glow in the Dark, ect. - it looks real nice, best option IMO.

If you decide to go with cable sleeving (I'm telling ya, it really looks nice) there are a few things you might want to consider. You will have to remove the plastic molex connectors to install the sleeving which is time consuming, but not hard at all (I'm telling ya it will be worth it!). Also, you will want to use heatshrink tubing to fasten the ends of the sleeving - you can also get heatshrink tubing in any color.

I have 3 power supplies all sleeved up like that, took a while, but it looks real professional now - I'm sure many others out there do the same, maybe somebody can provide a link to a photo seeing that i'm too lazy to take a digi pic right now 😉

You can take a soldering iorn and just tap it along the length of the electrical tape to melt it together. I do it all the time, its my ghetto heat shrink.

Like most said, the electrical tape will eventually start to peel off 🙁 Happened to me.

Two things you can do to fix this:

1) Use heatshrink tubings on the ends
2) Use zip ties on the ends
where the tape will eventually peel.

Zip ties is nice and cheap. Worked well for me till I got annoyed at the way the tape left the sticky residue.
You can buy some plastic looms at most auto shops (AutoZone, R&S Strauss, etc..) or Home Depot. I picked up my plastic loom on the cheap from HD. Bought some 1/8" and 1/2".

Eventually you'll get tired of the electrical tape, and cleaning the residue off the wires is no easy task (I can tell you from personal experience.) Either go for some nylon cable sleeving, or just tuck your wires in nicely. A little time, some zip ties, and some looms, and you can make your comp's innards look pretty decent.

Here's a picture of my setup. My setup I used a piece of plastic loom to hold together part of my ghetto rounded IDE cable (electrical taped some IDE cable) and some power cables together. Too bad after I spent all this time tucking the wires out of the way, I never bothered to check my mobo first. Just sent it back to newegg today for RMA. I'll try and hook it up just as nice when I get my new one back.

The main problem I found with this method is it makes the cables very stiff, and hard to move to where you want them. The second problem is when it peels the cables will be sticky. You were better off just buying some wire tubes for couple bucks.

cool looks good. I am thinking about getting some tubing for mine. It looks okay right now but I think it will be much better with tubing.

Nick, why don't you just get some black paint and paint the wires... then use a few black plastic ties to hold the wires together.

Just an idea anyway.
