I recently purchased a 1993 Honda Accord EX and have been in love with it. Its a standard and has a really awesome sound system. This car seriously puts my old van (Vantera) to shame that I used to drive.

So last night I was cruising along a street near campus jamming to some Slayer very loudly and all of the sudden I noticed a yellow light coming up ahead. Being much much much too caught up in the song "South of Heaven" I decided to skip on by this stupid yellow light only to get a cop car right behind me. Like 5 seconds later I saw the dumb sirens.

Blah blah blah, got out the car, blah blah, Liscense, do you know why you were stopped? blah blah blah

Anyways In my wallet I have like 8 coupons for a free dozen glazed donuts at Meches donuts and tried to offer the cop one as a friendly offer. He got really mad, REALLY MAD. Went off on a tangent about how people are punka$$es nowadays or something like that. I dont know, I was just being friendly 🙁 Ah well, guess I gotta go pay like 120 bucks and sit through a stupid lecture or something.

Peace

You're a dumbass. You basically insulted a cop and actually he could have considered that an attempted bribe. You certainly deserved the asschewing and you're lucky you didn't get more.

This is not a matter of how stupid your comment was,
but rather how far into the future you will continue to say stupid things.

there's friendly, and then there's just stupid. unfortunately i would have to categorize your actions among the latter.

it's all a matter of presentation. I'd make it into a friendly joke and get the cop to laugh.

Saying somethign like "how about this, free donuts, none of your pigs can resist that" will get you a rodney king style beating...

no. there is no smart way to offer a cop a donut. /thread

WRONG. There is a smart way to offer a cop a donut. If you are eating donuts at home, and there is a cop in the area, patrolling, etc, or just sitting in the car waiting for idiots to run a stop sign or something, you can go and offer a few to them. Usually they will appreciate it.

ok, i wouldnt make a joke like that until the justice had been served (ie the ticket for speeding or whatever), but US cops go on far bigger power trips than they have the right too.......UK cops can be a little tough on things when they need to be, but for something minor they wont take offence at a touch of humour, ok if u made reference to pigs then of course they will, but something like the donut thing (cant atm think of the UK equivalent..lol) really wouldnt make them get all pissy, they'd take it in good humour, they dont care, they just ticketed you....last laugh is theirs...heh

And how so? I was just being nice but he got offended or something, its not my fault there are lame people in the world.

Come on... It is very disingenuous of you to say that you offered the cop, who just ticketed you, doughnuts out of the kindness of your heart. It was a dig at him. You know it. We know it. The cop didn't think your little joke was funny and went off on you. Then you got offended/embarrassed that he didn't share your sense of humor... Or you realized that you chould have checked yourself before you wrecked yourself... Now you're on here trying to assuage your jilted sense of humor hoping we'll think you were not trying to be a jerk.

Good luck.

Trying to BRIBE an officer with donut coupons? He should have slapped you with more tickets for being ignorant!

Since when do they make you get out of the car? I've been pulled over 3 times in my life. NEVER was I asked to get out of the vehicle.

This was after he gave me the ticket, it was not a bribe.

They always make you step out of the car down here.

Dumb... just dumb, but hey, we all gotta be dumb sometime. Your just lucky he did not give you another infraction for attempted bribery.

As long as you accept your ticket, I see nothing wrong with what you did. It's dumb, but hey, you seem like a good sport.

nice story, i like it! i don't see what's wrong with offering free doughnuts after you got the ticket.. i might have done the same.. maybe not since it was a cop... you can send me those coupons though

I DID offer him after the ticket, I noticed the coupons as I was putting my DL back in my wallet
