Time and Time again I have to repeat myself to the idiots on this board who complain about whining to the judge.

Listen: You should plead not guilty (even though you know you are) and whine to the judge. He or she will reduce your points but make you pay the fine. The judges themselves know it's about the money and he or she doesn't want to increase your insurance.

So don't TAKE IT UP THE A$$ from the bureaucracy! Get the reduction and don't pay thousands of dollars on your insurance.

the bestest advice, evar!

Take it to court, and make sure the cop that is supposed to show up to argue his side comes down with appendicitis on the court date.

It worked for me. 😉

I got my first speeding ticket 7 years in. Paid the fine, took traffic school and everything is clean again.

In my rage I had forgotten about traffic school. What does it cost? What do you do?

It cost around $40 in California, you just listen to a bunch of comedians for a day. Either that or you can do a self study and take a test. It's stupid either way.

then they will just reschedule it.

why can't the US have a system like Germany? oh that's right, we've got some of the dumbest drivers on the face of this planet behind the wheels.

my parents both have yet to get one. maybe that explains why it took us 4 days to get from FL to NJ

Heh, I got from Northern California to Florida in 4 days.

LOL wow, it took my relatives and I like less then a day to get from PA to FL.

74mph on a freeway isn't endangering anyones life, and if it was up to me, every interstate in this country would have a 90mph limit for cars.

we just need one lane for going a set speed, like 90 or 100. if everyone goes the same speed, its still safe

until someone merges into said lane illegally, and someone rearends them doing 100 mph, killing everyone in both vehicles.
How do you rear-end somebody moving at your speed?

Heh, just got one myself. Gotta go to court next month for it. I got caught doing 180 in a 65.
Welcome to the club. If you haven't gotten a ticket in several years odds are they'll let you plea it to a lower ticket. Might be a 60 in a 55 or maybe better.

They didn't for me, they just threw it out. 🙂

Considering my car has a pathetically low governor on it, yes. 😛

Where I got the ticket is about 80 miles from where I work. It would be a major pain to go to court--I'll probably just "take it up the @ss". Unless it's some outrageous amount, in which case I might show up. But I've never been to traffic court--or any court for that matter--before. Sounds kinda intimidating.

I wonder if they'll ever do a research on how many accidents are caused by people speeding (moderately, not reckless driving style) vs. people making mistakes (missing their lanes, running red lights, etc). I bet you the later will have caused way more accidents.

On a related note, everybody speeds. I don't care what you say, I'm yet to see a person who doesn't speed. Most town streets have 25mph limit, do you have any idea how slow 25mph? Most people do 30+. Same stands for 55mph highways, most people would do at least 70.

The only reason cops make a big deal out of people speeding is because it's so easy to catch somebody speeding. Other violations are way harder, if not impossible to catch.

Actually you are more likely to get into an accident if you are on the road longer. Therefore, by speed, you are on the road less and are at less risk. 😛

I did traffic school online the o ther night. Took 45 minutes and cost $20. It's impossible to fail as they give you a link <shift-click> to the answers.

9yrs and counting no accident that was because of my fault (thought I often did come close during my early years as a driver). No police pull overs. Been caught by the red light camera 3 times though speeding past yellow.
