I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going and got busted. I deserved it; I know I did. I know everyone will say "Don't b!tch about tickets when you know you're speeding." I'm pissed, but at myself. I have gone four years without incident and now this. Dammit. Not really a point to this, just wanted to vent some frustration. BTW, I was doing 74 in 55.

Now, everyone tell me what an @sshole I am for endangering others' lives, etc.

You're only an asshole if you go whining to the judge instead of paying your dues.

It's no big deal. Pay the fine, goto traffic school, and life goes on. I've had 3 since 2000. Now I set my cruise control a few miles above the speed limit, and stay in the slow lanes.

No, I've had tickets before. I've just been quite careful to avoid them for the past four years. So I'm disgusted with myself.

74mph on a freeway isn't endangering anyones life, and if it was up to me, every interstate in this country would have a 90mph limit for cars.

my parents both have yet to get one. maybe that explains why it took us 4 days to get from FL to NJ

Oh well, sh!t happens.
I had a perfect record for 8 years and in this past year racked up a few moving violations.

Just keep it clean for 18months.

No, no whining here. I will gladly pay the fine; I just wish it wasn't reported to insurance.

we just need one lane for going a set speed, like 90 or 100. if everyone goes the same speed, its still safe

I got my first speeding ticket 7 years in. Paid the fine, took traffic school and everything is clean again.

until someone merges into said lane illegally, and someone rearends them doing 100 mph, killing everyone in both vehicles.

In my rage I had forgotten about traffic school. What does it cost? What do you do?

Which is exactly what would happen. That or someone in an SUV on a cell phone would veer into the bordering lane on accident and smear someone.

I dont want to jinx myself for reading this, but I currently have a 5 year clean record and going on to 6 years clean.

/knocks on wood.

I hope I can maintain it despite my some-times speedy sessions so I can get that great insurance policy after.... what is it? age 25 for males? 26, i forget

btw: sucks

try this: i've had a clean record for 5 years. then i was pulled over in philadelphia for "unsafe speed." the officer told me that it carried no points (i.e. just a fine). i find out months later that nj translates that to a mandatory 2 points and that there's nothing i can do about it.

Time and Time again I have to repeat myself to the idiots on this board who complain about whining to the judge.

Listen: You should plead not guilty (even though you know you are) and whine to the judge. He or she will reduce your points but make you pay the fine. The judges themselves know it's about the money and he or she doesn't want to increase your insurance.

So don't TAKE IT UP THE A$$ from the bureaucracy! Get the reduction and don't pay thousands of dollars on your insurance.

It happens to the best of us. Out of 24 years of driving, I have received one speeding ticket. Unfortunately, I have had my picture snapped twice by red light cameras. :(
