congrats on the promotion and the new mac. I was just at an apple store browsing around and mentioned to the clerk that my iphone 4's home button only worked half the time, he looked at it, did a diagnostic and gave me another one. Was a breeze. +1 for apple.

Congrats...I guess.

I can't imagine wanting to move to that part of the country for any job though...but I'm a Westerner at heart...It'd take HUGE sums of cash to entice me to go east of the Rocky Mountains for more than a short vacation.

Still...if you're in that part of the country already...and this IS a promotion...so more $$$...so congrats for that.

I am on the East Coast currently, but I went to school in that area, and have some family out there, but am still not totally crazy about the move. But there are no advancement chances where I am now.

Any opportunity to transfer elsewhere within the company?

I have family in several parts of Illinois and Iowa. I'm serious as hell...it'd take Donald Trump money to get me to move there.
Too cold and snowy in the winter, too humid and hot in the summer, too much crime, too many people, not enough mountains...BUT, like I said...it's still a promotion...

Then again, I've quit otherwise good jobs when they pressured me to become a foreman/general foreman. IMO, the money rarely makes up for the headaches and responsibilities.

Parts of Aurora are good and parts are shit.
Not sure where your company is, but you can always live a bit north and east and face a reverse flow in traffic, so the commute won't be horrible.

The other corporate office is in Portland, OR and I am not far enough up the old corporate ladder for that office. We have site managers scattered around the country, but again I am not eligible for that position.

And although there will probably be more snow, otherwise I am used to that kind of weather, I am in PA currently.

Oh, and thanks all for the congrats, and cautionary tales :)
