i got a "pressure point" on my screen

i was hurrying out of a hotel room and i set my phone on top of my briefcase and i grabbed it by hooking my thumb around the bag handle while pressing my phone against the side of my bag with my fingers. then when i turned it on there was a whiter spot on the screen. its not really bad but it is a bummer. is there anything that can be done other than replace the screen and if i did replace the screen are the screen replacements the same as the one in my motorola phone?
