I got a parking ticket

I am going to pay it, because I didn't want to wake up early enough to feed the meter.

I know novel concept, actually taking responsibility when one is caught breaking the law.

how much is the parking ticket? last one i got was $.25. think they uped it last summer to $5 though

Here if you pay it within 30 minutes of receiving, it cuts the cost in half.

This makes it about the same price as parking in a garage for a day, with much more convenience, and a fairly low chance of actually getting a ticket.

Theres no reason not to park illegally, even if you have to pay full price for the ticket.

Seat belt tickets around here are $55. That has nothing to do with what you asked him or what this thread is about, just thought I'd throw that out there, though...

My last parking ticket was $25. Further, the meter was only 2 minutes expired when I went to feed the meter, and I already had a ticket.

This was on Elm St. in Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX.

The difference between you and most of the other people with tickets is you did it on purpose. You are probably the only one who deserves to get a ticket.

You're right they should up my crime to first degree illegal parking, because I had intent.

I have a parking ticket I need to pay as well. I parked in a lot thtat was half condo parking and half police parking. I thought I was in the condo parking 🙁

Ignorance is not an excuse, so everybody that breaks the law deserves to get a ticket whether or not they did it on purpose or by accident.

lol

Hell I paid all 7 of my university parking tickets... cause they were only $15 each. 😉 It could've been a lot worse... or I could've been a lot more careful.

University parking tickets are cheaper than paying for university parking here in boston 🙂

(Cost of combined tickets in 1 semester: $350; cost of 1 semester of parking: $700)

I got a parking ticket for $3 once, but since it blew off my car and I never knew I got it, I got a notice saying I owed $178 to the University of Pittsburgh for outstanding parking tickets. I raised hell, but they only lowered it to $59.

you are right. But with traffic tickets there is one penalty to the offense. If it were murder, there are more levels of the charges and penalty that would be fit i.e 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree. Thats why if you mistakenly park somewhere where you are not supposed to, as apposed to what the OP did, you should be allowed to argue your way to a lower offense or even have the charge dropped.

The court system knows this, that is why they allow you to plea bargain with them.

Excuse my extreme example of murder but I stand by my point.

In a way a previous reply by the op about it being First degree illegal parking actualy strengthens my point.

I'm with ya man!!
Had 2 parking tickets in my life (The ONLY tickets I've ever gotten).
Paid them both.
I surely have deserved my share of speeding tickets, but I've just been lucky.(Got a couple of funny stories about them, but that's another thread)
If I ever do get one though, I'll pay it as well!
