I got a new TV and the quaility is horrible.

Well i got a new Westinghouse 37" LVM-37W3 1080P, but through the HDTV box it looks horrible. I have both an av cable, and a HDMI cable, both sources are horrible. But the dvi connection through my computer is amazing.

Oh and I have Comcast.......... Should i call them?

Sounds like you aren't receiving HDTV signal. Are you sure the channels you are surfing are actually HD? I don't have any experience whatsoever with the HDTV Boxes so I'm not sure but it seems like you are just watching regular tv, which the quality can be horrible for regular tv signal.
 
If it's standard def stuff, as was said, it's likely going to suck on an HDTV. Are you sure you have the cable box set to high def resolutions on the output you are using?
 
Obviously if the TV looks "amazing" through PC then it must be an issue with the signal being output from the cable box. I have the same monitor, I use an OTA reciever, PC, and Xbox 360 w/ HD DVD drive and it's all excellent quality, although I'd like the Xbox to be running through a digital connection.
 
I have a just a white one... plain av video cable. And then a HDMI cable, had to use the av cable until the HDMI cable came in. The sound goes to my sound system....
 
I had the same issue with coaxial cable and my older VHS (through a composite cable as you described) on my 37-w1. Bought a cheap converter at Radio Shack to convert to S-Video and it's night/day. You're probably better running through a tuner to the PC, like what I used to do before I decided cable companies are evil and now deal with d/l'd content for shows I want to watch. The upscaler on my unit is pretty weak, if you want to watch SD I'd run it through a separate converter and use that for display or try S-Video, which handles scales much better than composiite.
 
It sounds like the HDMI output on your cable box is set to 480p. Check the back of the unit near the HDMI port.

If it's a motorola cable box..

- press power to turn the unit off
- press menu
- make sure the default output is at 720p or 1080i

You must use the HDMI or RGB cables. You will not get 1080p from anything other than Blu-ray or HD-DVD, as the US TV industry supports 720p and 1080i. On the cable remote, press power to turn it off, then menu within 2 seconds.. From there set the output to 16:9, 1080i, 4:3 Overide Off. SD channels look worse on a HDTV 99% of the time.
 
It is a Motorola cable box. But i cant change anything on the output, I can change the output sound thats about it. I will be calling Comcast soon.....

Did you go up to the box and press power (to turn it off) and then the menu button afterwards? It goes into a white menu where you can output to 720p or 1080i. Also make sure you're watching on the 800's (HD Channels)... and TV input is on HDMI. I have comcast and my HD DVR box doesn't have HDMI, just DVI... so I had to use DVI to HDMI cable and the two rca (red / white) audio cables.

you're using regular composite video on a HDTV, that is going to suck no matter what. Also you said a white cable, that is NOT a video cable and will only make it worse.

Also thing your cable box isn't outputing HD, this is quite common. It's already been posted exactly what you need to do. If your HD channels are jaw dropping amazing, something is wrong.
 
Ok first of all i have tried all of what you all said. Looks like shit either way. And i am using a DVI-HDMI cable, I used a plain old white av cable until the HDMI cable came in. And my HD channels are form 200-225, and this is according to the pamphlet i got with the box. And the box says HDTV ready on the front of it. If i go far away its a bit clearer though.

Your TV should have something like a display or status or info button. That will tell you what is being input to the tv. 480/720/1080, etc. You want it to say 1080 as that means your cable box is sending the TV hd-video.
