and in no way shape or form would I EVER tell an potential employer my current or previous salary. that is none of their business.

let them make the offer and negotiate up from there.

I sort of made that mistake. I lied that I was making $25/hour at my old job which I wasn't even close. They came back to me with an offer of $30/hour, I negiotated an extra $1.50 an hour($5K a year).

That actually sounds like a "NOC" position. Or basically a level one technitian in a data center.

We are building one also, two people hired already.

Haha yea, they already know how much I make :(

Hindsight is always 20/20... so what can ya do? I guess I'll have to play it by ear.

ouch. well if they know what you make now then the offer probably won't be be for much more.

You can still negotiate from there. Just pick what you think you are worth and then add 10% to that as a counter.

only you can decide how much you are worth.

Just remember that the guy sitting next to you that didn't negotiate could be making half less than the guy that did.

my friend does something like that for a financial firm in NYC. His opening offer was $62K +8K sign on bonus, he just took it.

I'd pass on that. I know what I'm worth.
