You've got a job, and thats good.

But I will never buy anything for myself from A&F. Expecially because anything you buy there is stamped with a big A&F logo. I mean, if i'm going to sign over my soul for a pair of pants, I expect the store to at least ASK me before putting a billboard on them!

heh, the onlynice clothes I own are a few pairs of Dockers, and assorted dressshirts. I also have a nice sport coat, but everything else is just trash. And I'm happy that way.

well the thing is, since everyone knows abercrombie is expensive, they realize that the shirt you're wearing with the tacky looking AnF logo comes at a hefty price. When you're paying $25 for a short sleeve tee, then you WANT it to have the AnF logo, cause otherwise people are gonna think you shop at the neighborhood pawn shop.

AnF isn't about fancy clothes..it's more the casual look. It caters to rich kids that have the money to waste on such clothes, and it's very reasonable for them to spend what may seem a "ridiculous" amount to the average target shopping atoter on "just clothes" These kids aren't upgrading their video cards every 3 months, instead...they buy clothes lol.

video card > overpriced clothes

with that said, fear my $8 polo and $12 khakis.
/me goes to play old games on his nvidia tnt1

The only thing I'm jealous about is getting to work with hot chicks.... shallow perhaps... but hot.

And how the hell do you not consider yourself "white" ?

this is one long thread for such a blah topic...

but congrats on getting a job. heh.

Maybe i'm just grumpy b/c i'm tired...but this really is a pretty blah topic.

Like totally! *cough*

If that shirt looks like it came from a pawn shop, no logo is going to help it. Putting a dumpy logo right across the chest usually just makes it look worse. Nobody is going to go, "Oh, he bought it from AnF so it is OK..."

As long as you admit it... Really though, that is why AnF has so many bad vibes coming out of it.

do you have to wear a&f clothes to work? how big of a discount do you get?

yes and 30%
Had a friend that worked there. Spent all of his paycheck trying to afford clothes to go to work in since they have to wear the most recent clothing.

Kinda like the coal miners back in the day, always in debt to the company store. Though it is a great business model, pay regular retail wages give a 30% discount and a requirement that you have to wear thier product and still make 200% profit on the product.

how am i white?! i'm middle eastern - you know.... the typical a-rab.

anyway...out of like the 12 kids at the orientation today...i was the only non-white one besides one asian chick.

They are supposed to be the casual look they can take off and throw on the floor, and when they want to wear them again, they just pick them up and wear them

and for this fools spend hundreds of dollars on an outfit?

Haha,I bought my 16 yr old an A&F wifebeater,brand new,got it off the floor in a pile at a used clothing store,cost? 75 cents a pound🙂

uhh.. i don't get the A&F and racism.

i've known chinese people, indian people, and black people to work at A&F. they were all a lil on the feminine side tho.

geez 30%? i thought ud have got a bigger discount - i assume it pays slightly above minimum wage?

good job though, i doubt im beautiful enough (or white) to get a job there!

At least they don't make you walk around topless. This A&F in our mall always has topless dudes at the entrance when I pass by. If only they got one of them to iron their clothes. They are always wrinkled and nasty looking. Who wants to buy clothes that look like you took them out of a dryer and sat on them for a couple days?

my friend is supposed to walk around topless soon... or so says the manager.

Umm wtf? They're making him walk around without his shirt on? Yeah, I'm pretty sure he can sue the fvck out of them for that! Jeebus! A&F is becoming trashier and trashier! I thought the sex catalog they were selling for christmas was pretty over the top. Now it seems to me that they would be catering to females having guys walking around half naked, right? I don't know about most guys but when I go shopping for clothes, the last thing I want is some half naked dude asking me if I need help. I can't remember seeing anything like this at our A&F. Is this normal? Maybe the manager is trying to pull some crap on your friend. He better watch out. He might bend over to tie his shoe and suddenly find himself involved in an intense game of hide the sausage!

update:

i had orientation today and we learned something about why the clothes look like what they do. The store basically caters to male college students. They are supposed to be the casual look they can take off and throw on the floor, and when they want to wear them again, they just pick them up and wear them. It's for lazy college kids. Anyway... i saw theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hottest girls today
Thank you Captain Obvious.

Sad thing is this is true....honestly the more I think about the US education system and what is prioritized in most higher learning establishments it makes me sad...honestly while I was pretty lazy in college I wish I had been surrounded by others who were motivated...oh well

wtf? you do NOT need to be white. thats b.s. i dont' even know why ppl think that. maybe its the area i live in but there are a lot of ethnic groups there.

im guessing:
A) you have never walked into an A&F and looked around - 99% white people work there
B) googled A&F, lawsuit, and white!

Or seen the Dateline/60minute story on how they only hire white people and how when corporate goes to a store and sees minorities they are told to either fire them or give them stocking jobs, when the store is closed, or to just cut back their hours in general.

Anyone that says there's no problem is apart of the problem.

I've been to A&F many times. i have like 8 A&F shirts and 5 of their pants. Maybe its just the ones in Houston but it has a lot of diversity.

I'm aware of the "A&F Look" thing, as my friend who worked there (black) explained it to me. they want ppl to have the casual, youthful look, but it doesn't necessarily mean race. Yeah, if you have a black guy with FUBU walking in, no hell no, he won't get the job. but if you have one wearing flip flops, and A&F clothes, he may very well get it. Same thing applies for Asians. If you have the prada gucci, armani exchange wearing ones walking in, forget about it. they are looking for young people with casual, just woke up, carefree style. thats the look, not the color of the skin (at least from my experiences, with two friends and several acquantances. one indian friend, one black friend. acquintances were asian.) Of course, A&F is kinda preppy in its underlying way, so the asians, indians, and blacks that do get hired may be labeled as 'white-washed' by others. But thats the company's style. What if I as an Indian dood walked in with a Polo shirt and Docker khaki pants and tried to go get a job at FUBU Wear (if it exists??). They'd laugh at me and tell me to go back to Iraq or something. I'd never get the job. would that be racist too? no cuz its coming from Blacks, it ISN'T racist all of a sudden.
