Ok heres my situation...

My specs:
P3 800EB, 256k, 133mhz etc, etc...
Alpha heatsink
256meg Pc100 ECC
BX Master Sot 1 mobo
SB live
WD 45 gig ATA-66 HD
ATX case W/300Watt PS

Now heres my problem...
It will let me run it at 600, 720, and thats it...
Is it my motherboard?
is it my Ram?
Or is it just me?
Why cant it hit 800mhz at default 133mhz bus?

Probably RAM. Your CPU wants an FSB of 133, but your RAM is only guaranteed to operate up to 100MHz.

What video card do you have? On your BX motheboard, you will be running the AGP out of spec as well.

I`d say ram also, plus the video is cooking too (Andy pretty much sum`s it up)

If I were you I would either get a P3V4X (so you could run the ram) or trade the cpu for a 100mhz fsb cpu... (just a couple of options)

Bartman 39 is on it. A P3V4X will let you lower the ram bus, and still use your PC100. If you want to stay with what you have, then get PC133, or a 100mhz CPU. The easiest solution would be PC133, which would increase performance also.

Just for the future, stay away from ECC ram, its nothing but trouble. There a slim chance, if you set your memory timings to the absolute slowest, that you can the system to boot and be stable using 133. Try to find an idiot at EGAY to take the RAM off your hands.

well i think its unanimous...RAM is holding you back. especially since memory runs out of spec on that BX board. even if it werent the case, good memory and video are the next most important thing to consider in system stability after considering proper voltage and a good mainboard...by the way, you didnt mention the voltage in your setup. aside from the fact that the P3 800EB runs at a core clock of 133 mHz and your ram is only PC100 (whether you get a new mobo that can handle PC100 RAM @ 133 FSB or get new PC133 RAM), you shouldnt have a problem @ default voltage, since the P3 800EB is supposed to run @ 1.65v (correct me if i'm wrong). if stability is still a problem just up the voltsge a bit.

Actually- if you really want to try your RAM out, try increasing the I/O voltage if that is allowed on your motherboard. That will help improve switching speed on the RAM and AGP card.

Everyone said it already. If you do get the right components, that system you have will rock n roll though. I've been running a PIII 700E @ 1008MHz on that very board.
