Hi! When i run RivaTuner on my PX6600GT, it display 2 core speed...

Standard 2D: 300Mhz
Performance 3D : 500Mhz

What's going on?

The card runs at lower clocks in 2D (Standard) mode to reduce power and heat, and then increases speeds in 3D applications where more power is required.

Are really sure you should be messing around with the clockspeeds..? If you don't know this, I serioulsy suggest doing some research before you overclock your card. I'm not trying to pick on you, just trying to save you a little bit of money. If you're not careful, you will damage your card.

And different parts of the 78000 series run under different speeds, depending on what the hardware is doing, even under 3D...

Terra...

ok. thanks.

I've managed to overclock to 595Mhz for Performance 3D and 360Mhz for standard 2D. RAM pushed to 1250Mhz.... i thnk i'm satisfied, although the card can go further but i dun wanna risk burning it...

1. I seriously doubt your 6600GT will go much higher than 595/1250 without extra voltage.

2. You need to run rthdribl.exe to generate some heat. benchmark programs are not sufficient. I wonder if your OC is actually stable at that core speed. Try running rthdribl and you will likely get artifacts after a half hour to an hour.

OMG!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU ARE DOING!?!?!?!? YOU ARE NEVER SUPPOSED TO OVERCLOCK YOUR 2D SPEEDS!!!!! If you have to ask a question like this, YOU SHOULD NOT BE OVERCLOCKING YOUR GRAPHIC CARD UNTIL YOU LEARN MORE!!!!

another shout for the "DON'T OC THE 2D" 😉

not unless you want mega FPS when running teh pac man 😛

thanks guys. already removed OC for 2D.

I've dropped my 3D OC to 590Mhz and RAM to 1240Mhz. Played a few 3D first shooters game for a few hours, no artifacts.

where can i get the rthdribl.exe ?
