I give in HL2 Hint needed :( to do with buggy and broken sluice gate

I've tried stacking barrels at the other area to jump the fence to the garbage bin etc...

If I remember rightly,

Turn around at that location and you should see some barrels, shoot them and watch what happens.

turn to UR right and there are some explosive barrels under a crane ... blow them up .... put a smirt on my face

once you open that gate, to let you past, just go back to where you came from, where you left your boat..
