I get HD0/Atapi errors in XP but can't find any bad HDD sectors..

It takes my T430 takes 30 minutes to boot into XP... I get HD0/Atapi errors in XP but after running HDD tests, SMART tests, I can't find any bad HDD sectors.. chkdsk did repair some XP issues but it still takes forever to do anything inside XP..

The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period.

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.


Anyone have any ideas? Is the HDD dying?? Lenovo won't replace it if they can't find any error messages with it right???
 
Set BIOS to defaults. Backup. Format. Reinstall.
If the problem persists, you've cleared that it's a software error, so it's hardware. If it's under warranty, use it.
 
Have you run a diagnostic test downloaded from the hard drive manufacturer? Most of them provide an ISO that can be burned to a bootable CD or flash drive. Their extended tests can sometimes find faults that don't otherwise trip a SMART flag.
 
You could be seeing protocol errors caused by a bad cable or port rather than genuine media errors. Unfortunately, you don't have much of an option to swap cables or ports since you're on a laptop. Try reseating the drive and see if that helps.
