When i start up my old retired rig (retired rig # 1...look @ my rigs...the p4 2.0a one), i get this boot error..u knw the error you get when u have nothing to boot from.....then after like 2-3 reboots, it's fine......i checked the bios...reseted cmos, updated bios.....chked the boot order.........everything seems fine..it's just that everytime after i turn off the computer, and turn it back on, I get that "no boot device found" error thing.....and after 3 reboots....it boots into windows....quite annoying i must say......

any ideas?

Does your bios have the option for hard drive pre delay? I've seen systems boot faster than the drive could get spun up, and adding 3 or 5 seconds delay fixed it.

I've had an old rig not boot up ~'unable to find bootable device' once, one reboot later and it was running. seems it did it a couple more times, then work again, only to die shortly after

bios battery seems fine....changed to a new one...same thing....pulled the cards...same thing...

can it be the power supply?...the enermax I had in there (chk retired rig 1) is not there anymore (using it on my new xp2400 sytem).

the PSU might be the culprit....but b4 I get another one to chk it out, are there any other suggestions? I can't seem to find the hdd delay option...is there another option in bios that's similar to it?....

thanks guys for replying...but need more help..hehehe :(
