I Gave Mozilla Firefox a try......

So far I like it, of course it is taking a little getting use to, ie the different fonts and menues, but I think it is here to stay. I was a huge ie6 fan, but I read MaxiumPC's review of it and thought I should give it a try, and glad I did. I also read about all the plugins you can use with it, I'm excited about trying a few of those, even if it is only for the gee-wizz effect.

Thought I would share my experience.

thanks for sharing!

i did the same, however decided to stuck to my IE. i've got it nice and customized for me, with a password filler app and popup stopper pro to stop those popups. anythign more than that is just unnecessary for me.

Does it run under Windows? Silly question, probably, but I don't know; that's why I'm asking!

As soon as my copy of SUSE9.1 comes in, I'll be loading it up on my little Dell box...just to learn.

it took me three tries to permamently switch from IE. But now I wouldn't go back and, when i have to, it's really strange.

I use Maxthon (aka MyIE2). The best of both IE and FF (... IE has the pages actually loading with no bugs, FF has tabbed browsing, plus with great plugins and mouse gestures that are actually inuitive).

and critical flaws in IE. Best of IE!

MyIE2 is just a snazzy IE shell.

Hence why it's still bad 😉

I just switched my parents' computer to Firefox and Thunderbird after the computer got infected with 2 viruses and a crapload of spyware.

No virii, but my mom's desktop got the When-U-Search toolbar. I'm thankful for Spybot's restore feature, as it took more than it and Ad-aware to remove the stuff and keep Explorer functional. Now there's no IE shortcuts available, only FF, Netscape, and Opera (she has pages that require Netscape and IE...Opera works for the IE one), and no more spyware thus far.

I still prefer Mozilla 1.7.1 and Opera 7.51 to Firefox but at least I`ve actually tried them 😉.

I also can't understand why so many people still uses Windows.

because not everyone is a nerd like you.

Hehehe

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I've used Windows since 3.1 and think it's pretty good.

There are usually 2 alternatives to using Windows; MacOS and Linux. Apple computers are expensive and are very different from the user scheme of the currently dominant OS (Windows), and Linux is still viewed as a non-computer-guy friendly OS.

To me, there is no reason why you shouldn't use Firefox/Mozilla instead of Internet Explorer. Of course, you'll never get IE out of your life if you use Windows because of certain integration issues.
