when i got home this evening, around 11:30, I found a cat sitting at my front door. i brought him/her inside and gave him/her some milk and chicken and removed burs from the fur. this cat obviously belongs to someone because it's very friendly, clean, and was wearing a collar. i put it outside and went to see if it was still there about 45 minutes later and it was still there, so i put out a bowl of milk and a rug for it. i figure it'll go home soon, but what should i do if it's still there tomorrow morning? my apt complex is a no pets allowed place, so keeping the kitty isn't an option. suggestions?

If you wanted it to go home, you shouldn't have fed it. It might hang around for a while now. If you stop feeding it, it'll probably leave within a few hours.

well.. first thing you shoulda done was not give it milk.. hehe.. itll be around for awhile probably now, and you'll hear it constantly meowing, all through the night.. i know cause its happened to me before.. once you stop feeding/giving it milk itll probably go home.... i know it sounds mean, but it may be the only solution... at least the only one i can come up with...

my roommate for freshmen year of college, well he did some crazy things to cats back in arkansas. sometimes they would bury a live cat upto its neck in dirt, then run it over with a lawnmower. another thing was that they'd put a cat in a tray of water then stick it in the freezer. after it freezes, they'll kick the frozen cat on the block of ice around the floor. messed up huh? maybe its an arkansas thing.

none of the above is an option for the cat i found. that's not an arkansas thing, that's a precursor to serial killing thing

don't blame this on arkansa or being a hick. this is a well known trait of pyschopathic killers. your lucky you made it out alive.

I'd reccommend burying this guy up to his neck in dirt and running over him with a lawnmower...it'd be for the good of the nation.

Suggestion: If you keep feeding it, NO MILK. It gives most adult cats bad diarreah. Did the collar have tags?

no tags on the collar. i'll give it a day or two and if it's still hanging around, will put ads in the paper or something. as for the milk-that was part of the reason why i put the little guy/gal back outside. it's easy to forget about the milk thing because i give my cat back home milk and cheese and it doesn't bother him at all. need to remember what doesn't bother one cat may bother many others

It's true, your cat may have seemed fine but I'm sure it's stomach was pretty active.

It might be a pregnant cat.. pregnant female cats tend to explore a little for a safe place to have kittens.. often it doesn't include their owner's home..
