i forgot how to decrease the brightness of my laptop screen

My dell laptop should last around 3 hours on battery but it lasts about 1 hour... so I'm going to try decreasing the brightness and mess with other settings

There's a F key at the top that has a different colored drawing of a sun and a down arrow. I wanna say F6, but no longer have my Dell.

Hold the Fn key and press the right F key a few times.

How new is the battery and what model is it? 1 hour is pretty short.

My laptop has the sun arrow icons on the up and down keys

yeah, I think either I have the settings weird or something is killing my battery

My laptop is one years old, it's a dell 600m

I have it charged most of the time so I don't usually run it on just the battery.. so I never really noticed it lasts such a short amount of time

any ideas?

did you cycle it by letting it run until it dies and then charging it back up?
