It was 40 and raining earlier yesterday...now it's -35 (with windchill) and snowing!

Good old Minnesota, how I missed the cold weather ^_^

F > C in USA...everywhere else is the opposite....we know. not sure why we do not switch, but we have not...we learn to deal with it!

In school I was taught F to C conversions, so most high school kids should know the difference between the two either way.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo looking to going back to Minnesota for school in January. All my friends think i'm nuts for going to school up there, but I love it! BRING IT ON! One day I want to do a winter trek through the boundary waters... that would be so fucking cool.

Fahrenheit is much more expressive for weather use. In Celsius you've got what, from -40 to 50 to cover most weather? In Fahrenheit, you've got from -40 to 120 to more accurately convey just how damn cold or hot it is.

You guys should post the C in brackets when you talk temperature at least, then us wierdos up north in the -40C have a frame of reference. 🙂

Who cares about water? It isnt' like 0°C is the true freezing point of water either (it is slightly wrong and NOT dead on it is more like 0.003°C). The best you can say is at standard pressure with pure water and with nucleation points the freezing point is ALMOST 0°C. Vary any of those things and water won't freeze anywhere close to 0°C. For example, PURE water at 1 atmosphere of pressure actually freezes at -42°C in a clean and smooth container. If you wanted to choose a logical base, you might as well use Kelvin or Rankine or another scale with an absolute zero.

Fahrenheit is perfect for most humans because it is a human scale:

Below 0°F = fricking freezing outside.
Above 100°F = fricking hot outside.

Anything between those limits it is safe to be outside for quite some time in most conditions.
