Hi, I want to add another hdd and it doesn't detech my harddrive. So I need to go to the BIOS setting to detech that first. The problem is my girlfriend forget the BIOS password so I can't go to the BIOS setting. Is there anyway I can open the BIOS setting or depassword the BIOS setting? The motherboard is an old one and I believe it's as ASUS motherboard. The speed is for pentium 133. Since I need to install this real quick, can someone help me out on this one? Thansk in advance.

nb: I also post this question on the Motherboard forum since I am not sure where to ask and really need help with this problem.

Clear or Re-set the BIOS via a jumper. If you still have a motherboard manual look where CLEAR CMOS jumper is located. Move the jumper to the right pins for like 2 seconds and return the jumper to the original position.

That should do it.

Coki, I don't have the manual so I don't know where the jumper is. Is there any specific word on the motherboard that I can see? thanks

look, you have to check what type of BIOS it is, to my knowledge there are some BIOS that have like a backdoor password, i know this for some award BIOS, but you have to make a pretty darn good search for them, so good luck man, otherwise, find a manual and flash the sucker.

Look for a jumper near the battery called "RTCLR" Pull the jump and slide it over a pin.

Let it sit there for a few seconds, and then slide it back over to it's original position.

That should clear the BIOS.

The battery should be a silver disk about the size of a quarter. They are usually located on the lower right hand side of the motherboard. It will be twords the front of the case at at the bottom.

It should be near to where a bunch of wires from the case connect to the motherboard.
