I have used Opera. It was fast, but always appears to hang on the last parts of the website that needs to be loaded. Mostly on advertisements.
Firefox was even worse. I stopped reading websites on my phone because it was so slow : zZz zZz.
I used the ABP adblocker but it did not help.

For the last 10 days i have used chrome browser on my samsung s5 mini and it really is a lot better.
Fast loading times, correctly displaying websites. The ( xenforo ?) forums are readable for me again.
And although adblocker does not seem to function with chrome, The ads are not intrusive and using huge parts of the screen. But then again these are static pictures that do not follow me around.

I am pleased with chrome.
The big question is , will there ever be an adblocker for the android version of chrome ?

I used to use Opera and now moved on to the following combo:

Yandex Browser
Unicorn

Let me give up root access for now. Samsung browser (on Samsung phones) is OK, too, and works also with Unicorn.

I have several browsers and they all have "quirks" to say the least. The built in IE like browser with the LG3 barely works anymore for whatever reason. Constantly crashes even if I reset the whole phone back to factory defaults.

I use a mixture of firefox and chrome. I use chrome more because it is faster, but firefox has the better adblock as well as adblock killer prevention. So I can still view sites that try to use anti adblock stuff.

Firefox is my primary browser. It's libre, and extensible. I also use icecat, and a small handful of light browsers for special use, or backup.

I use Samsung browser with the Ad Block extension.

Unlikely, because Google makes money off the ads loading in Chrome.

After posting this message, i got a weird add from chrome that i had to dismiss.
Disappoint. :(

I have adblock installed and i have the samsung browser. When i activated adblock, it told me to update the samsung browser before adblock would work.
Maybe a silly question, but how do i do that ?
I did not see the samsung browser in google play store.

On a sidenote, what is the codebase of the samsung browser ?
It works so well and is very fast as well.
Weird that i never thought of using it.

I tend to use the Samsung browser on Samsung devices as it seems more performant + ad blocking.

The newer versions (5.0+) also are pretty modern looking and keep the bookmarks nav in the footer which I like as if lets me go through them quickly.

I do wish it had a couple features from Firefox to easily open tabs and open in background.

ad blocking with the sammy browser nice, tend to stick with chrome though as I like syncing with the desktop.

I've been thinking of trying some different browsers. Taking a few ideas from this thread. Mostly I've just been using chrome beta. Seems to always be just a bit snappier than regular chrome..

A few years ago I used to use Dolphin but haven't tried it again in years.

Have to test drive a few I haven't used in a while.

I did some reading, Samsung internet browser seems to be based on chromium.
I tried to update it. Strange thing is, i have an s5 mini with android version 5.1.1 but google play says that my device is not supported.
While i have read that the new browser is available for all samsung phones with android 5 or higher.

If you're on a Samsung device have you tried the Galaxy app store?

You need to update it through Galaxy Apps. If you have a Verizon phone, you'll need to sideload Galaxy Apps from apkmirror.

Lookup Internet in Samsung Apps, though i think it's hard installed on all Samsung Phones.

I use it also on my S7 as it has ad block and is much better optimized for longer battery use.

I also prefer Chrome on my phone. I tried Firefox a few times, but even after several updates it had too many quirks and some things just felt more complicated than they should be.

until chrome allows adblocking it can blow me.
Wow. Didn't even occur to me that Chrome wouldn't have adblock! I thought everyone did! Even Apple allow it don't they?

Firefox is slow as shit and often don't display sites correctly so I considering a switch to Chrome (again). But with no ab on mobile forget it!

Yeah Google are way behind the times when it comes to ad-blocking on mobile.

Ads are their business model. Everything they do is to get more data on users, and get more ads to the user's eyes. I expect google will endorse ad blocking on their stuff right after microsoft GPLs windows.

Not really bothered what their business model is, only what is best for me as the user. And that means no adverts.

Samsung browser on the s7, its the smoothest browsing experience on android bar none. It can finally open pages in the background now.
