1st, the opening song 'skyfall' is horrible. What a terrible song. 2nd, I fell asleep 25 minutes into it. Terrible movie. I did like the first two and I think Daniel Craig is a great actor. Just a crappy movie all around.

Obviously, this is just my opinion. But I totally agree with the OP. This was a letdown.

I completely agree with the OP; worst Bond film ever.

Two things really ruined the movie imo. First, the entire movie is pieces of other movies. It starts with Mission Impossible 2's 'Noc list', that has all undercover operatives and their names and locations (but to be fair, instead of being in a top secret vault, Skyfall had it on a train with 2 people watching it - wtf). I won't go into them all, but the other obvious ripoff is The Dark Knights 'Joker being captured on purpose'.

The other thing, which I really hated, was the way they turned Bond into a pussy. He didn't want to go back; which could be an okay story line, but NOT for James Bond. Completely out of character. Same reason I hated Iron Man 3... while Tony Stark or Bond might have doubts and reservations, when you make them whiny pussies, it just doesn't fit with their characters.

It was alright, but nothing worth going nuts over like a lot of people did (IMO).

Also, the ending didn't make much sense. So you take someone that has high security clearance and connections, and fights for the "good guys," but he chooses to go off somewhere and defend himself from a dozen armed cronies with nothing but a pistol and a break-action shotgun? Fine, write in a good reason why he can't call for help, but good God that would have been the time to have some special Bond gadget for him to use.

Most people liked it. ATOT doesn't like things most people like because of their incredibly high standards and super intelligence.

I agree on both characters here. James Bond should always be a badass.

the Craig trilogy was IMO a sort of silent silent reboot of the Bond franchise, it brought it back to the roots but in a more gritty modern world, they were all about Bond becoming Bond and not a continuation of the previous films.

Casino Royale was all about Bond getting his 00-status and falling in love with Vesper and then losing her, it also (re)introduced Felix.
Quantum was partly fluff but very important from a storyline perspective in the way that it brought Bond into a more believable modern world and Bond moving beyond the loss of Vesper, it also developed on Bond's friendship with Felix, gave us a throwback with a reimagined Mathis, overall it was about modernizing the Bond world and the enemies but most importantly it was about character development and Bond earning his place in MI6 and the trust of M.
Skyfall was excellent if you ask me, it showed us Bond's past, something none of the other Bond movies ever did and neither did the books in such detail, the story was primarily about the past haunting the present (and the DB5 was a nice touch if you ask me) and Bond becoming the Bond we know from the other movies (a grittier version though). It reintroduced Characters, some reimagined, some very much in tune with the Bond movies of yesteryear.
They should be viewed not as separate movies but as one storyline (Quantum was just a continuation of the events in Casino), from here on the franchise can continue with business as usual.

Bastages. I bought the BlyRay so I could check out my new plasma TV and newer receiver. I supposedly looks and sounds great.
Probably watch it Saturday.

Was pretty boring and dumb, but I also think Craig is the worst Bond ever. He has zero charisma; complete dial tone. Of course I did really like Casino Royale, even he couldn't fuck that one up.

Yea I felt the same way.

Between no actual bond gadgets, other then the old car but even then it was a repeat if I recall, and the actual plot of the bad guy is just to kill one person made me miss the days they planned to destroy 90% of the world in a cheesy way.

Yeah, it only has a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and is the highest grossing Bond movie of all time... but it sucked. ATOT logic.

Meh, I did the same thing with Die Hard 4, which supposedly has amazing audio.

Not that there is anything good about John McClaine hanging out with the diddly Apple boy, but whatever.

No way man, Adele = badass. Probably my favorite part of the movie, actually. reminiscent of the good ol days with Shirley Bassey.

Couldn't be. That honor goes to every Roger Moore movie after TSWLM....and the second and last Brosnan films.

Totally agree. As far as I'm concerned Adele should do all the Bond themes for the foreseeable future. Obviously musical preference is entirely subjective, but I think this is among the greatest Bond themes and I find it hard to understand how anyone would actively dislike it.

Goldfinger is generally considered the best--Not by me, but most people think so. The lyrics, by anyone's standard, are shit. Just like the other Bassey songs: Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker, but they are sung exceptionally well.

Skyfall is pretty much the same to me. I don't know wtf she is saying, but it sounds great.

I laugh at the "cool" gadget in the film - his gun that checks for his ID. WTH is the point of this thing? Yeah I know it got used in the movie, but it seemed entirely useless, the equivalent of sticking a trigger lock on a gun but instead make it ELECTRONIC WOO WOO.

Casino Royale did so many things right in that it had mostly "plausible-ish" stuff in it. This one introduced so much silly junk and a waste of a scary badguy that it just got goofy. Daniel Craig doesn't make for good goofy bond movies. Bring back Roger Moore if they're going to go for that (which I did like his films!)

I'm going to do minor spoilers of the movie in the next paragraph, so beware...

Yeah, it was awful. I like how they threw away the entire plot of Bardem being some new kind of terrifying cybervillain (which people keep trying to push as scary and continue to fail at) and end up just having the guy throw 150 dudes at Bond at the end.

Also, the secret of Skyfall is that it was completely irrelevant to anything. Way to go writers.

Silva was driven by his fucked up Oedipus-esque complex, everything he did was to get back at his "mommy" who didn't love him enough. The plot wasn't about Silva being a cybervillain hellbent on world domination or anything, it was about M's past (and Bond's) and how it affected the present.
