Why the hell does everyone seem to like this movie so much? It was filled with horrible acting, the storyline was mildly entertaining, at best, but very predictable. I can't believe I wasted over 2 hours watching it. I was on the edge of my seat, nearly the entire time, in anticipation of it ending.

Someone please explain to me why people liked the movie so much?

I didn't really like it that much either. I'm not going to go so far as to say it was terrible, but it just didn't grab me that much that I'd want to see it again. I usually like "true story" movies and this was a bit of a disappointment after the good press it got.

it was ok. I think the huge gaps in the story are annoying...like 7 years later type stuff. I realize that each part was a part of the ending, but it didn't flow together well at all. It isn't the great movie everyone makes it out to be, IMO.

I really enjoyed the movie, but the book is MUCH better.

MogulMonster, care to give an example of "horrible acting"? Sure, it wasn't oscar caliber, but it definitely wasn't horrible.

i liked this movie. i thought the acting was good...especially on the horse's part. i loved the fact that this movie had many female characters. and i loved how fast paced this movie was...almost like the F&F of the 20's. heh..jk

i did like this movie. i did actually think the acting was decent. but the main reason i liked this movie is because of the story...of the underdog reaking pwnage

what's not to like?

Underdog, triumph against adversity? Love? Good acting? Great score/cinematography?

oh yeah - and horse racing.

I don't know why I thought the acting wasn't great. I just felt like everyone besided Maguire was kind of underplaying their role. My favorite character, by far, was the trainer that he finds in Mexico. He seemed to be the most believable character in the entire movie, besides the horse.
