Nicely done! We picked up our fresh tree yesterday from Costco. It was great waking up to the fresh tree scent this morning.

Is that a motion sensor in the corner? Santa's not going to be happy.

Yeah, I disable my security system on Christmas eve so Santa does not cost me the fine of having the cops come over. :D

Looks like a nice tree and a beautiful home but your angel looks a little crooked. It could be the angle of the picture though.

The tip of the tree is really loose, I had a bit of trouble getting the angel to stay properly, good enough LOL. It's an older tree that was given to me so it's not in the best shape, but it was free! I'd have to try fixing it some day.

is that a real fire place? just curious... it looks kind of fake..

At some point it was a real wood burning fireplace but it's capped off and that's just an electric insert, only for aesthetic purpose. It also has a 500w heater I can turn on but I don't really trust it so I only use it if I'm around. My living room gets cold really fast though, so it can help when I'm watching TV. I need to replace my windows, I think they have lot of air leaks.

Would be neat to turn it back into wood burning, but that makes mess (soot on all the walls) and actually sucks cold air in the house, they're good for show, but not really efficient. They also increase insurance costs.

just get one of those reburning fireplace inserts. No smoke or soot and the logs burn for hours before needing replacing. Nearly all the heat goes into the room and no draft.

I had a friend growing up that had a real nice old fashioned steel wood burning fireplace, I agree with you that the old grated steel open pit places are dirty and lots of soot - but the pot belly type fireplace that they had was so nice, I enjoyed visiting and being able to stand by their fireplace and feel the heat, it enabled them to heat their whole house very well in the winter... without the mess, it was very nice how they had it built into their existing brick fireplace.

My parents had one, it was much more efficient but unfortunately they did not get one that was large enough for the room. It had a hard time heating up that huge family room.

I'll put my Tree up on Dec 26th, when there's a good chance I will find plenty of them in the neighbors trash for free.
