I finally finished....

A little background . . . I got a concept for a story when in college, and I wrote a small rough draft. That rough draft was accidently deleted by my brother, and I had to start again from scratch.

Fast forward to today, I finally finished my story. I think I'm going to try to get it published after a let a friend read it to see if it even merits average scale. It may need a bit of tweaking, but on the whole, it's done! I finally got to write "the end."

Call me a nef with this thread, but I can't wait to get this puppy printed out. 😀

Now to start on some of the other rough drafts I have floating around, lol.

Congrats on finishing it. I'll keep an eye out for it and can I please have the first signed copy?🙂

minendo: I can't guarantee it, but I'll do my best. 🙂

SpecialEd: It's a great feeling, I feel like a million bucks. 🙂

I just have one dilemma. I have no idea what to call it. I have to think up a title!
:Q

Hehe, and the second signed copy will go to pyonir. 🙂
What genre is it?
I guess it's a horror story, it's kind of an old fashioned sell your soul to the devil tale.

And you people that hate open endings will hate this one. 😀

I second the question. I may be working for a literary agency this summer (maybe) - if you decide to work it up for a possible move in publishing, I'll give you their URL.

HotChic: See my edit above.

I'd like the URL. I did a cursory search oh Yahoo! about literary agencies. Lots of stuff to wade through.

Adul: As I said, it's a sell your soul to the devil story, only it's not as straightforward as wealth or fame in return for one's soul. There's a bit or trickery and naivete involved, and problems arise when he upsets the "devil."

Hmm, I just got an idea for a possible sequel. 😀 BBL, gonna jot that down so I don't forget. 😛

OMG! You stole my story! Mine is titled, "Successfully Installing Windows XP on Legacy Platforms."

A lil nef now and then never hurts anybody.😀

Once you have finished polishing and proofreading, you might want to submit your story to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. Back in the early 80s, they printed several short humor pieces of mine. The editorship has changed since then, so I can't pull any strings for you, but I can tell you that this magazine has always been known for its friendly and helpful attitude toward young talent. They seldom send out rejection slips without attaching a personal note of advice or encouragement.

The money is not great (short story money seldom is, except for "Playboy" and "The New Yorker,") but there is quite a bit of prestige attached to this venerable publication, and a few first-time authors have struck gold and gotten into anthologies as a result of their debuts in F&SF.

Good luck. Don't quit your day job. 😉

You have had your texts published? Honestly, I don't find that one bit surprising. Your posts here are just plain awesome 🙂. Intelligent, funny and witty. You obviously have talent with the written word.

Azraele, i would love to get my hands on a copy as well!!!

one of my goals is to write a book someday. I'm not sure if i have the patience tho. Can you give us a short synopsis?

congrats,
I'll take a signed copy along with signed photo and possible first dibs on personal item that someone may find of value in the future as a pricy collectible.
