Fanboy?
Obviously if you have absolutely no response to the competitiveness of the Power Mac G5, PowerBooks and Cinema displays, not to mention OS X.
I'm not getting into another typical mac vs pc flamefest. I really don't care.

I've owned from commodore through macintosh and back to atari, I've used them all. I don't care which is better, I use what I need to use and I like to use them all for fun.
So I'm no fanboy but you probably are the typical mac fanboy whos iPenis gets insulted everytime someone makes a joke about macs or says anything negative. Get over it. Steve jobs did.

Can't recharge through usb2.0 on the iPod. Use the FW cable or get the card!

Thanks.

I'm asking cause this Thursday I might buy.
I have the 3G and the volume is fine. I don't like the earbuds, but I tend to be quite picky with those. I went with Etymotic ER-4P in-the-ear phones instead. :D

As for the 3G vs the 4G, get the 4G. I like my 3G, but IMO, the interface of the 4G is better. There are also a couple of small feature enhancements of the 4G. Also, the 4G is rated for longer battery life.

Yep. New 4th gens and minis can use the direct USB 2.0 cable to recharge. The older 3rd gen can use USB 2.0 for transfer only (doesn't come with it - hence the $19 adapter). The cord is split and has a firewire part for power from the AC adapter.

Not wanting to start a new thread...does anybody know what the difference is (if any) between the internal amps of the iPod Mini as compared to the 4G? As much as I've told myself "you don't need one right now", the gadget whore in me really does. So it's just come down "which one"...the size of the Mini is great as it can fit in my pockets quite handily...but if it's a weaker amp, that might put me off, as I'd be pairing it up with Etys or Shure canal-phones.

If anyone knows, feel free to PM me, I don't mean to hijack.

Oh. Didn't know the 4th gen could be recharged through usb2.0! My 3rd gen one doesn't.

4th Gen is 1mm thinner, 12hrs battery life,

Caved???

did you have a big fat man sitting on your head, smacking you with his butt, telling you to buy it??? Or hordes of Mac-ites chanting unholy phrases outside your bedroom windows?

If yes, stay away from me... :D

Quoted from link

*Over 600 hours of music based on Windows Media format at 64kbps.

Who the hell listens to music at 64kbps? Ataris sound more soothing.

Also the earbuds look uncomfortable and poor, not like the awesome ones that came with my cheapo iRock mp3 player.

LOL The iroc is a piece of garbage my friend has one.

And so what, everyone uses MARKETING. It has a 20gb/40gb drive, and can use many more formats than the ipod. Also why would you care about the bundled earbuds, *very* good ones can be bought for a bit over $100.

What kind of marketing scamjob is that? *Over 600 hours of music based on Windows Media format at 64kbps* Like you said, who the hell listens to music at 64kbps? Might as well say the can get 1200 hours of music at 32kbps. Sheezh
