How's the volume when playing ? Any distortion at higher volumes at all ? How's the quality of the earbuds ? And last question ... is it worth the extra $50.00 to go with this 4th gen @ 20GB verses the 3gn 15gb iPod ?

Thanks.

I'm asking cause this Thursday I might buy.

well I am trying it out right now... and IMo they are perfect.. but I am no audiophile.. so perhaps I dont really now how a good sound needs to be like

I think its worth it, since they use the rotating scroll (like the minis) in the 4th gen version.. that alone is worth it (coz I hear the previous generation ipods have a problem that its too sensitive)

also an extra 5 gig is good

If you need the $19 USB cable for Windows, then a no-brainer yes.

You will never know, will you? ;)

To be fair, at least the 40GB iPod 3G comes with the Apple case and wired remote.

Unlike the average specs of the enthusiast AT population, the vast majority of Windows PCs do not have FireWire.

Heck, my motherboard does have it, but I never even bothered to plug in the wires to my case, hahah!

What about the Audigy line of Soundcards? Plus I was told you can't charge your ipod with USB which would be the deciding factor for me.

Come on people ... don't hijack this thread into a Mac vs PC deal.

By the way that iRiver does look promising.
