Gentlemen,

Last night I finished up ordering the stuff for my computer, my system will be configured as follows,

ATI Radeon 32meg DDR
384 Megabytes of Micron PC133
Abit KT7
Duron 700
GlobalWin FOP38
Artic Silver Compound

I need help to make sure that I install the Artic Silver and the heatsink correctly, because I plan on OCing the Duron till da bitch can't take it no more! Any tips? I seem to get conflictiing information on how thick the AS needs to be, can someone help me?

you are supposed to get it so it's a thin coat, almost a silver sheen. Sounds real tough to get perfect to me.

I have tested the stuff on my CPU about 5 different times and the thinner the better (although I do have the one optimized for large contact areas). The instructions say not to use your finger, but a credit card or razor blade wouldn`t get the paste thin enough (not to mention the crap is messier than anything).

I just cleaned my finger with alcohol and spread a thin coat over the processor, then wiped my finger clean....I did this over and over until there was an ultra thin layer on the slug.

If your slug is very even against the heatsink (I lapped mine `cause it was very uneven)I believe thinner is much better, if it`s not exactly a perfect fit then maybe a tad thicker is the way to go.
