I figured it out.

Ummm Do you currently have a isp? If you do just use dial upnetworking, using your username and password. Almost ALL isp are win2k compatible.

Actually according to ntcompatible.com the only one I've seen that I've heard of is Juno. All of the other ones come up as incompatible.

nitrousninja,

I'm sure you're talking about the proprietary browser versions and dial-up software that's used by some of the ISPs. The ISPs themselves are mostly compatible. I think it's a real mistake to install any of the proprietary crap. Much of it interferes significantly with W2K DUN, and the "branded" browsers (regardless of vendor or version) are uniformly lousy. I think you should just talk with the tech support people at a couple of ISPs and assure them that you just want the instructions for using the operating system's standard Dial-Up Networking with their nodes. Windows 2000 will be much happier, and so will you.

I use CompuServe as one of my dial-up services. Their standard software uses an AOL-dervied proprietary dial-up connector. I would not DREAM of putting one iota of their JUNK SOFTWARE on any system I own. With proper configuration and a logon script, I can use CompuServe nodes everywhere in the world with the standard DUN on my W2K notebook.

Regards,
Jim
